Overloaded Champion of the Year. Vote ! ! ! ! !

Krystab··15 votes·13,380 views

With the year coming to an end, Who do you think was the most Overloaded Champion released by Riot this year?

No fun to playing against with the Horrible kits and overpowered abilities these champions have, the designer needs to be fired for 2020

In my personal Opinion is Aphelios, whose idea was that?

yasuo might be an annoying champion design and basically game breaking, but the kit is not overloaded. He has weaknesses.

His kit is overloaded though. Let me just point out what his ult alone has.

It’s an aoe cc That resets his shield Does a fuck ton of damage Blinks him into you Is safe from turrets And grants him 50% bonus armor pen

That is ONE ability (all be it an ultimate) but it’s not like the rest of his kit isn’t overloaded.

His q does damage in aoe Crits Applies on hits Has a knock up Effected by cdr and gains cdr for attack speed

His w is his most simple ability. Gain immunity from ranges champions.

His e is a dash That does magic damage Has basically no real cooldown And makes his knock up point and click.

And lastly his passive. Grants him a shield for walking. And gives him 2000 gold in stats giving him a 7 kill lead by default at 2 items.

Like. The pure amount of brainless overloaded this is, is insane.

I'll pick it up from here my guy.

No Mana Easy sustain from runes Can out clear waves better than most mages Doesn't really need to build armor pen. Ult on low cool down because of kit design Can build Sterak/Bloodthirstier/GA which means he doesn't really sacrifice damage for some tankyness Can ult from the smallest knock up like Thresh flay, diana pull, Lee sin kick Maokai push I think.

P: Exists to give counterplay windows as compensation for mobility because he lacks base stats to other fighters on the curve until endgame. Just because it is visible and annoys you does not mean it is more powerful than a champion mitigating that damage over the entirety of their healthbar constantly like every other fighters stats or kits, it just is the most visible on Yasuo at that moment in time. As to the crit chance (that gives him reduced crit damage as well) is actually worth less in gold than Tryndameres passive for crit and AD. The shield essentially is compensation for lower stats, and the crit is his real passive which is still less in gold than another champion who gains something off crit.

Q: It's a glorified auto reset. That can miss. Every third Q he gets a skillshot knockup or has to dash into melee to use a knockup, which is fine for an actual ability.

W: Frustrating ability, nothing loaded about it, it's just poorly thought out. Needs a max damage meter at least to wither or use half his flow.

E: Not even real damage lmao get out of here, by the time after resistances and you've "scaled" its damage, still negligible. Having a squishy melee get up close for a knockup is perfectly fine unless you are of course, a ranged champion that doesn't want it. God forbid any melees that aren't Camille get to harass ranged if they're being incompetent while ranged get to both harass freely and outscale. At least he loses to most other melees in place of it, that's called tradeoff.

R: This is relatively overloaded out of caution more than stats. The damage on the ultimate isn't anything special, and the power is loaded into him actually doing something once he gap closes from a knockup or went in with it. Having high damage on it outright and no passive would make him stronger into ranged without needing to actually perform. That being said, it was clearly meant to be able to kill tankier characters so this is still torn and can be considered overloaded to fulfill multiple power niches. So, yeah, we can just say it is a little ridiculous.

This perpetuation that he's broken (other than people feeling annoyed at Wind Wall blocking their ultimates), I feel continues because mid laners, who of course play ranged mages, aren't very keen on anything that can bully them back. Like any mid ADC, such as Lucian -- or tanks like Sion which get nerfed just so mages can continue to remain constant instead of players shifting the meta with balance. Only time he was an actual menace top was when he could build tanky, and that was nerfed after awhile. Meanwhile, other classes can harass top without issue or harass bot as support and nothing will happen for ages. Yet mid and jungle get priority on balance changes for years. There's a real complaint.

The dude has 2 passive. As an adc I would trade ANY adc passive. Any of them. For double crit. And that would be laughably broken.

His q is a repeatable auto reset. It has no real cooldown and turns all his autos into aoe.

His w says remove 60% of the rouster from the game for a few seconds.

His e turns his q into a point and click knock up. And makes him one of the most mobile champions in the game in a minion wave. Name one other champion that’s gets upwards of 6 dashes per 15 seconds other than talon.

His ult is so overloaded it could be an entire kit. In fact. It is ALMOST darius’s entire kit.

What weakness exactly? Yasuo is one of the very few Champs if not the only one who can still stomp people even if u destroyed him in lane. U can keep making yasuo your bitch but once he gets his statik and ie aka his full build he all of a sudden becomes a threat.

Don't let him get there easily. Make it so by the time he does get there, it does not matter. When I jungle, a yasuo mid is my primary target as he puts himself in bad spots constantly just to farm.

Doesn't rl matter tbh not only yasuo is relatively safe to ganking cuz of his e but even if u ruin him he will just afk farm in another lane when lane phase ends and gets his classic 0/10 power spike. He's the only champ who can still comeback after being destroyed any other champion will just be useless but yasuo can solo carry the game after finishing his 2 items. He's seriously broken but it's not addressed.

I will give credit where it's due, Yasuo (and people like Akali) are still more than able to be outplayed easily. But...fair to your point - the only actual weakness is quite literally "try to make them fuck up so bad they can't recover"

Akali wins from her spacing. make her screw up spacing/timing her abilities, you win. Yasuo is the same way, except the spacing doesnt matter if you have minions, and/or get hit by literally any knockup. So with him, it's literally, "make him chase you away from a wave, bait his windwall, and shit on his face."

Those aren't weaknesses though...because anyone who actually knows how to play them will never fucking do these things

Exactly. A one trick yasuo who actually knows how to play will not get baited easily and even if he fucks up he will eventually come back. Riot should really address this issues but they won't cuz both akali and especially yasuo are insanely popular

Camille and Ekko are also overloaded as fuck.

CurS1VE18 votes

Akali is for sure the most overloaded BUT out of the choices you gave I voted for Sylas.

Sylas is basically going to be on that Azir/Kallista level, where he is either completely must play or ban or will be complete dog shit for 99% of the player base. He has basically everything you want in a 1 v 9 champ, Heals/Shield, Aoe Dmg, Engage, Mobility and that's before you factor in his R.

He is a cool champ though, I'm not hating on anyone who enjoys playing him and honestly I like having good Sylas's on my team but they are unicorns. Awesome design overall but because he has so much he basically is going to always be at a borderline unplayable status with his Ratios imo

Tr4shB4NSYST3M11 votes

Sylas, Just look at his change-list. Outside of buffs just after release he's basically only been nerfed B/c SHOCKER the ability to steal ult's is Un-bloody-balancable.

Naalith9 votes

I actually think they could've made a champion who isn't too big of an issue with the ult stealing mechanic. The issue with Sylas is that he's op as shit in pro play because Riot don't know how to design the game. Ultimates are vastly more important in pro play than normal play, to the point where otherwise mediocre champions are OP in pro just because of their ults. Riot should've counteracted this by making the rest of Sylas's kit extremely simple with very few mechanics so that, other than his ultimate stealing, he was a simple champion without too many effects on his spells which usually makes champions bad in pro.

However, they decided that he needed 3 dashes (two conditional), an insane waveclear passive aided by attack resets on nearly all his skills (attack resets adding high mechanical skill requirement), an insane waveclear Q which is better in pro because of CC chaining a team, and a heal and shield on top of these other high level mechanics. Sylas's other abilities should've been intentionally crafted to suck in pro because his ult is perhaps the craziest pro spell of all time, but instead they just don't know how to design anything.

Tr4shB4NSYST3M4 votes

I mean, yeah ultimately what really broke him is that his QWE was basically the power budget of some champs entire kits, its actually nutty.

GelsominoKiller5 votes

An Ult-stealing abilities is balanceable.

But you put it in a champion with Zilean's base kit complexity... Not in a fucking high skill high mobility high damage high sustain skirmisher like Riven...

Tr4shB4NSYST3M1 votes

True, sylas QWE is overloaded af, Q double proc aoe waveclear w/ a slow, W is basically illaoi W but as an ability plus an added heal on lowHP (and LOL he gets the AA reset for free b/c of passive), E (before shield was changed to magicdmg) was Riven E + amumu Q.

Its actually hilarious how overloaded riot has been making new champions

lmao it wasn't his garbage ass ults that got him nerefd. Most ults are useless on him if they're not CC ults because the ratios are so bad. Try stealing Zed ult and land your full combo within the death mark, it virtually pops for nothing.

Sylas got nerfed because he was like Irelia a bruiser with mobility, and it broke them both when brought to mid lane since they were tanky enough but a single all in would chunk a mage or assassin for 60-70% of their health and both Irelia and Sylas could heal right back up any trade while being naturally tankier.

That's why they got nerfed, not his lame ass ult.

Sire Hippington6 votes

Am i the only one that thinks aphelios doesn't really have an overloaded kit? Sure, 5 wepons and 5 Qs, but in the ende, they are all different means to the same end, it's all about dealing damage, mostly through AA dps. Only realy burst is his ult, and only utillity is his slow cannon with a short root on Q. Everything else revolves around AA dps with not aditional utillity, cc or mobillity, not even %hp or truedamage, so i honestly don't think he is any more overloaded than jinx who offers very similar things: high closeranged dps or high ranged aoe dps, a high ranged skillshot for poke, some CC, next to no mobillity and an ult with hgih aoe damage potential. If he's strong, it's because the numbers are to high, which is overtuned, not because he offers to many differnt tools, which would be overloaded.

Now, who i really miss on that list is Akali, who is certainly more overloaded than quiana, and most of all Kai'sa. Mixed damage, %hp damage, poke, burst, tankshredding dps, a powerfull speedboost+invis on low cd, extra survivabillity from her ult shield and a high ranged dash for easy target acces(provided your team lands some CC). Oh, and the option to build basically any item she wants casue she scales well every off-stat. The only thing she lacks is a high AA range for save teamfights, though skilled players can compensate that with her ult and invis.

CurS1VE4 votes

after playing him a lil i just think he has some mechanics that are overtuned atm but he isn't overloaded. Some of the interactions with his R make him more like a Mage and less like a traditional Marksmen and I think that's what ppl are running into mostly, his R looks confusing to me but I just press it and Hit Q or whatever and get like 3 kills or something.

I think what we'll prolly see are tweaks to his R and also the ratios of some of the higher dps weapons because honestly it's only like 2 of the 5 that are busted but they are SO busted that it makes everything else overtuned.

Also some of the base attack speed on a few of the weapons are a bit too high as well; even when you put all points into Attack Damage and only putting stuff into Speed when you can't, the base speed on the weapons are too quick for the utility and dmg they provide, this is something that I think riot may have underestimated.

Some of the higher dps weapons have too high base attack speed while the more utility based weapons ALSO have too high base attack speed, basically he is always going to do a crap ton of DPS.

Little Witchery5 votes

Qiyana isn’t really that good outside of her ult (which is too large on walls, I admit)

She’s just Talon with a teamfight button.

Yasuo is more overloaded than her, and everyone on that list has far more going on in their kit than her.

PopcornBunni1 votes

3 Qs, two dashes, one point-and-click and the other spamable, repeatable stealth, execute projectile, three hard CCs, three ult interactions, hidden power on W autos that would make Fizz jealous. Qiyana has a ridiculous amount going on. The only thing missing is a nonsensical heal or shield thrown in.

Still no one nearly as overloaded as rework Akali

Little Witchery1 votes

Three hard CC's? Two. The little wind push back is both unreliable and bad. If you're far from a wall, it rarely even chains into the stun. It's only hard CC when a Yasuo is on your team.

The W auto empower really isn't that good either. 8 on-hit damage at level 1 with a .2 AD ratio and you max it last. Fizz's auto attack empower is 10 damage with a .6 AP ratio.

PopcornBunni1 votes

The passive damage depends on how long they hit between autos. At more frequent auto attacks, Qiyana has much more damage since its all instantanious, while autoing with Fizz before the damage has all added up simply refreshes the timer, losing out on that potential damage.

At level 5 with one rank on the abilities for each character, for example, Fizz hits 0.72 times a second, or once every 1.39 seconds, meaning he would only get 6.66 +13.33% AP from each auto (and 20+40% for the last). Qiyana level 5 hits 0.66 times a second or once every 1.5 seconds, dealing that 8 + 20% on every attack.

Basically the more autos are weaved between spells, the further ahead Qiyana's passive damage outpaces Fizz. At higher ranks the 40 instant is massively more than Fizz's 60 over time, though both will be one shotting targets with other abilities at that point regardless.

Edit: Oh, I didn't notice that in addition to the dash and passive reset and Q reset and low cooldown and elemental ms steroid and invisible auto damage Qiyana ALSO gets an AS steroid from her W, making her autos per second 0.79, or once every 1.26s instead of every 1.5, so she'll be taking full advantage of those enhanced autos.

I mean define overloaded. She had ability resets, an aimbot for her abilities, an ult that does 80% of your helath and had massive aoe, double dashes, a stun, and a cloak.

Boomer1 votes

Her ult was (and still is, IMO) overloaded, nothing else really.

Arammus3 votes

how is senna on rank 2 lol. this is about overloaded not over powered.

Slythion3 votes

Too many people don't know the difference between overloaded and overpowered.

A champion is overpowered if they're generally a simple champion that's really good at what they do, and nothing else matters. Often time these are stat checkers (such as juggernauts), but are hardly limited to that.

A champion is overloaded if they have a shit ton of tools and options in their kit, and often have "special exceptions" in their kit that aren't found elsewhere in champions. Yasuo, Zoe, and Akali are good examples of these champions.

A champion can be overloaded without being overpowered, and a champion can be overpowered without being overloaded.

Because of this, Qiyanna is probably the most overloaded champion imo due to low cd mobility, low cd stealth, and all the versatility her elements provide. She has many more tools or options (even if they're not good options) than someone like Senna. There's an argument to be made for Sylas maybe? Idk enough about Aphelios yet though, he could be more overloaded.

Boomer1 votes

I disagree with the last bit. Having the choice between three options on the same CD is not overloaded. It's decision making, which is good game design. (Her ult is super overloaded tho, 100% for sure.)

If the Q was giving all 3 effects, snare, stealth, and bonus damage, all at the same time...then I would agree that it's overloaded. Having options does not automatically mean something is overloaded. Otherwise Jayce/Nid/Elise are all automatically the most overloaded champs in the game.

The King Diamond3 votes

Why there is no Akali Pyke and Irelia on the list?

Waka FIocka2 votes

Senna 100%. Sure aphelios has a literal overloaded kit with ... just so much going the fuck on BUT he is just an adc. He has one role he is designed for and he can be dealt with. Sylas is a bully all game & im glad he is getting changes but I can at least deal with him. Yuumi was autpilot zzz overpowered but finally seems to be a little more fair to play against; her kit is very simple actually and she was designed for beginners with some room for more experienced players to do some interesting things.

Senna tho... she is a multi-role support/adc with self sustain and ally healing capability in one ability, caitlin range AT BASE, scaling passive mechanic giving her a ton of free stats at no cost, she can pick up her mists safely with her massive range = no counterplay to keep her from stacking. Her Q range is absurd & also resets her aa. aoe cc, aoe camo + ms, global ult that shields and damages. Plus she has a support item just for her (and pyke) and item 3179 lets her one shot wards while she speeds through the area.

Other supports literally cannot compete with this. I would rather deal with an Aphelios than a Senna. And the two of them together is just gross. Senna with any adc is a really bad time unless that Senna player or ADC are making a ton of mistakes.

OneMustFall2 votes

Easily Senna. She can do just about everything and stacks range and AD infinitely. Has the ability to heal herself and allies, shield herself and allies, has a global ult, MS buffs, stun and can camo her team. They triple nerfed her and pretty much killed her ability to CS and collect mist and she still has a respectable winrate. I don't think any other champion has more utility than Senna in the game and she can scale to do just as much damage as any champion in the game.

Daddy Ants2 votes

My vote goes to Senna

Sir Saltarin2 votes

How can be Senna and Aphelios be winning lmao.

Sylas has been by far the most problematic champ this year.

CøsmicWølf2 votes

there is a separation between overloaded and problematic but despite that, I think its a race between sylas and senna.

LightswornLance2 votes

People who say Sylas is overloaded absolutely urk me. Outside of his first few nerfs after release, he only got nerfed due to being a 3 role flex in pro play. He was already a perfectly balanced champion in patches 9.12 - 9.14 but then his jungling got nerfed and then he got completely gutted due to worlds. Anyone who thinks it has to do with his kit is stupid.

AZ Frost1 votes

For someone to get gutted that hard for Pro play...ya don't think there was a reason? o_O #overloaded

LightswornLance1 votes

Uh I stated the reason, because he was a three role flex pick for mid jungle and top. Which allowed you to safely first pick him. If they had bad lane matchups you could just flex him into the jungle. They hit all the first picks in worlds patch ( Aatrox ).

Your inability to read once again proving that people who think its his kit are stupid.
