As a new Jungler

Any tips I can gather on how to do better mid to late game? I am having problems on knowing what I should do after the laning phase in particular.

Really depends on what jungler you are.

"Jungler" is not like ADC. You can play an AD jungler, AP jungler, tanks or bruisers... all of them do different stuff lategame.

Midgame you should focus on securing objectives. Ping your team, tell them "drake in 30 secs!", make sure they know what objective you plan to secure.

Also, as much as people don't like to hear it, try to feed your best laner - usually it's better than to try and help someone who is behind. When you are a new jungler it makes ganks easier and lowers the risk of the already fed enemy getting a double kill.

If you start falling behind in the jungle, before lane phase is over, offer to cover your solo lanes while they base as long as you can play safe, the minion exp is really nice to help catch you back up as long as your lane doesnt mind. After lane phase, all you can really do is group up with your team, and try to start team fight phase before the enemy does. Its not uncommon for the enemy team, once ahead to have their fed people play stupid, take advantage of that and 5v1-2 the enemy team when you get the chance. If they group up the same time you do and you're behind, the best option really is to defend. Take objectives when its intelligent to do so, like if you see them top lane, and red is up, take red, if you know 2 are dead, and 1 is top, take drag as a team, ect. Force them into one sided fights, then when they have people down, push prudently.

i was going to explain the intro, but seems like my 2 friends beat me to it.

so here's a great tip for the long term.

there's 3 kinds of junglers.

1- Early junglers. those kind of junglers have a very strong early damage, and also have the potential to invade the enemy jungle at level 2 and take their camps. they're constant threat to any overextending early lane.

their level 3 ganks is very strong, and can secure a kill easily and get you snowballing, that's how they win games. they have a medium objective control, as they still need their team to be there with them if things go south, but do not need them to take down the objective itself.

examples would be: Leesin, Shaco, Pantheon, Vi.

2- Tank junglers. those junglers shine at best with teammates that can followup, they have a strong level 6 ganks, but they will fall pretty fast, only play those if you believe in your team, you will not be able to carry with a Tank jungler, or atleast not as hard as an Early jungler, or a Late Jungler (more on this later on) Basically you're helping your team doing the Carrying. you're Very weak early and prone to shutdown by level 2-3 invades, you have close to no duel potential, as your job is not dueling, but Tanking and applying heavy CC.

they have a weak objective control, and they constantly need their team to do it faster and to not lose much health by tanking it for way too long (this happens if you don't have damage)

examples: Nautilus, Sejuani, Rammus, amumu, Sion.

3- Late junglers. these kind of junglers require farm, and items, and OR kills. you should not expect a gank from them, they won't help you, not because they don't want to, but because their early ganks is weak and not worth wasting the time which could be spent farming instead.

they have an Amazing jungle objective control, they're also a great duelists, they can solo jungle objectives with ease, if anything, they're highly reliable on having their team to either be passive or not losing, as 2 or more losing lanes could result to a game over, you can't farm when enemy team is taking your inhibitor, and they require your team to know how to stall games until you reach your late game stage.

examples: Master Yi, Udyr, Jax.

and then there's the odd junglers who transit over the course of the game from fighters/Assassins into Bruisers or Tanks.

such as Nocturne, Warwick, Jarvan.

or junglers that work differently, like Nunu, and Shyvana.

Feel free to ask any questions.
