As a guy who loves Mundo, I feel super iffy about his changes

Maybe I just need to wait for the meta to change again, but this game is getting increasingly ruled by high damage champions, and I always wanted Mundo's identity to just be "the guy who doesn't die". His influence would irritatingly persist despite all attempts to repel him, but he wouldn't necessarily hard-carry through his damage.

I don't know. I just wish he would be geared towards tankiness. Powerful regen is probably one of the strongest tank stats of them all (the longer you last in a fight, the more effective HP you have) with surprisingly little representation nowadays outside of Mundo, and with a buff being budgeted towards his damage I feel like this is a missed opportunity (and might make Mundo more annoying)

So much agreement. This was a sorely missed opportunity.

The problem with that vision and fantasy is that a character who simply doesn't die cannot live up to the fantasy unless they have something that makes people want to target them first. In the hypothetical that they CAN live up to that fantasy without giving a reason to target them, they'll be able to fight 1v5 indefinitely and thus be able to beat the enemy team or simply pose an unassailable threat.

You can make someone a desirable target in one of two ways, damage or crowd control. Mundo is severely lacking in both and thus works mostly as a person who can soak up AoE damage while applying damage himself. Mundo could also do better at fulfilling the fantasy of a regen tank if his kit had more interactive parts with the actual health regen as giving more ways to play against it (And thus deny it beyond just ignite/grievous wounds) would allow for there to be more power in those spots.

He is ridiculously tanky already, making him a bigger threat should make it so that durability matters more. That and making him tankier would just be ridiculous, he already doesn't die. I would just rather they made it fit better with his theme of sustained damage, such as just making it a minor buff to the AD he gets from Masochism.

I think making his E give him an extra chunk of basically unavoidable burst is a good way to make him more of a threat that needs to be dealt with rahter than someone who can be ignored. It won't make a big difference against tanks but hitting a squishy with that E is going to hurt a lot and should make them more hesitant to move near your zone of control.

Agreed

I do think mundo's main problem is how easily he can be ignored. While I'd rather he was given some form of cc (maybe if the enemy sits in his w for 5 seconds they get stunned/taunted for 1?) this does seem to be a move in the right direction to me. If wants to stay the "no hard cc" tank, more damage should make him harder to ignore. They could also buff his pre 6 base stats, since he is very weak there considering his scaling isn't amazing or anything, at least of someone brings ignite/builds morrelonomicon.

I see a future juggernaut.

Take what you want from that OP.

tbh, he was the original juggernaut. he had little CC, and pretty high damage if you look at his whole kit. Match that with super tackiness and boom, the original juggernaut was born

mundo is honestly a great champion who just trolls you by pressing R and gains his hp they have been giving attention but not the one he really needs

Chespin20131 votes

Agreed even tho Mundo is classified as a fighter I don't want him to be made a Juggernaut. I just want him to be this beefy guy that can literally go where he pleases and not give a fuck about your damage because he'll just regen it back. IMO the E is OK as it is right now but I think there is room for improvement just not with adding more damage to Mundo.

I had suggested a weaker regen but his ult giving him immunity to Grievous Wounds, so that you know that when Mundo goes where he pleases, he indeed goes where he pleases.

Please no, he is my main =(

A tank that deals little damage and has minimal CC is easy to ignore.

Mundo shouldn't be easy to ignore.

This is why I play Mundo support.( in a poke comp with a safe adc.) Then just spam Q's all day and you'll either snowball lane, zone them out, get a lot of attention from they're jungler.Ezreal Lucian Tristana Caitlyn are some of the adc's I like to pair with. Are you that super tank that buys sunfire turns on w and sits in the enemy team? No. You buy silver boots and poke and kite cuz you're a juicy target, but like urgot you get out of fights with the most disgustingly small amount of hp.

One this is a champ I play in normal games. Two you act like the vast majority of players aren't bronze and silver. This is a fun pick, to play. Never claimed to be madlife, or faker.

Give him a rage mechanic. The longer he's ignored in a team fight, the bigger he gets. Infinitely stacking. That should fix his problem of being easily ignored. Try landing any skillshot on anyone but him after a while. xD

(somewhat joking..but..not too...I mean it fits thematically..)

im honestly really confused why mundo has one of the lowest winrates for top in the game (44.5% or something) My friend plays him in mid diamond really well with a 4 KDA. I think he is just a hard champ to get used to and play even though he seems simple on paper. Slightly buff probably needed to make him more accessible

Mundo is honestly a lot harder to play than people give him credit for, and not just because of constantly needing to hit clutch cleavers. The hardest part of Mundo imo is just knowing what you ought to be doing at any given moment. I see way too many Mundo's just yolo dive in teamfights and leave their carries in the dust while he gets kited like a bitch. I find it much better to play as a wall for your team and then dive the enemy carries once the enemy front line overcommits to the teamfight and can no longer peel for their carries. Also, knowing when to ult is really important; Most Mundo's I see ult far too late and get bursted down before they heal very much. The ult gives a huge MS boost too and there's no shame in using it largely for that.

I always thought he was a fighter first tank second ?

I just made a similar post.

This buff is a bandaid buff at best to bring him from c tier to b tier. Mundo's kit right now is a giant bundle of free stats. Free tenacity. Free AA dmg. Free movement speed and health regen.

There are no mechanics or counterplay. No decision making at all.

He needs a medium to heavy sized rework.

I disagree, right now he represents an easy-to-play tank-like champion. Not everyone needs to be mechanically complicated.

I would argue that his E needs to be replaced with some kind of hard/semihard CC ability to move him solidly into the tank world, though.

BluePolarizer1 votes

yep every champion needs its own mechanical minigame where you need 500 APM to issue an attack move command.

ARequestOfDeath1 votes

but it would not make him fun as he currently is

Mundo already does a lot of damage though... His cleavers with item 3151 are sickening.

mundo doesn't rage he goes where he pleases

I used to play a bit of Mundo and a lot of Volibear. I've played them less and less, and one of the reasons why is the healing debuff on Morellonomicon, an item that went from never built last season to a core build on a lot of AP champs this season.

Meeks0111 votes

His Q deals way more than his new E, it's barely a difference. 25% of current health? On a 4 second cooldown? Nothing to laugh at.

Chuck Charles1 votes

personally, I would like to see the cleaver (his signature) be upgraded in some way. whether it gets reworked into having some form of conditional stun....or maybe the damage also scales with his own health so it increases in dmg a bit with items you build. Right now his bases are honestly good, but they aren't good enough when you can pick a juggernaut and do damage AND be tanky. If mundo had a conditional stun I think that would be a huge boon for picking him as a CC heavy never die tanky. Granted I don't think they stun should be insane like a 2 second stun or anything, but it would be cool if a condition was met and you as a player had to play around that cleaver hitting you and stunning you.
