Idea for the anti shield item being passed around

Riot quoted "Something like that would be the intent yeah. Could also be something like 'Unique Passive: Your basic attacks deal 42 bonus magic damage, increased to 84 against shields' rather than a single burst of damage or a modifier to all your damage."

look at item 3091: an item based around taking resistance down, deals magic on hit. Maybe instead of forming a whole new item, you can update wit's end to fight against shielding. This would be pretty cool because it wouldn't be like IE or ER where it's essential to every adc and gives extreme power. It gives attack speed and some magic damage, can't be busted on an adc unless you're someone like kogmaw.

if they go with an active item, look at item 3056: It nullifies and disables turrets currently, but maybe it could be updated/reworked into a shield interaction instead of a turret one since it's niche is obsolete right now. It doesn't have to keep its build path or anything but it is a pretty wise way to keep this item while still having the utility disabler theme.

These unloved items have a perfect opportunity to take spotlight back in league.

They should make any kind of item that completely nullifies shields. In my mind, there are only three optuons:

  1. if you want to use wits end as an example: new passive: bonus on hit damage is doubled when damaging a shield.

Basically, situational damage that only applies to shields.

  1. Again, using wits end as an example: new passive: dealing damage to a shield reduces it's duration by 1 second. There is no cap to how many times this can affect the same shield.

Basically, situational duration cuts.

  1. Again, just using wits end: new passive: the bonus damage from this item is not reduced by shields.

This 3rd option technically negates shielding, but it's only the bonus damage in this case and does not remove the shields benefits toward other damage.

This is simply my opinion: but items that can completely negate a champions primary function should not exist.

I agree that you shouldn't have a complete shield deleter, because it'll probably be abused where it isn't intended like a 1v1 matchup. They want to make the item for shield spammers who make it impossible to play against anyone because they always have a shield on them, probably with ardent too.

If you asked me for my opinion on how it worked, I think a passive version would feel GWish but wouldn't be as strong because its a flat amount of damage to the shield/straight to hp/ however they make it work.

They have a lot of directions they could go with an active though.

Completely bust the current shield: Long cooldown, wouldn't fix much because you'll only have shield fighting power once every 60/90/120 seconds or sometime like that while the shielders have their power up every 8 or so seconds.

Amplify damage toward a target's shield for a duration: Could be given a shorter cool down since you don't instantly blast the shield away. Could also make a % of shield destroyed deal their hp too.

Silence a specific champ or area from casting shields?: Would be an awkward iteration but it might work if single target. Depending on the item's stats and build path it could be made unabusable on carries who are 1v1ing someone like ekko mid.

My only concern with making it pierce shields completely is that it would have clarity issues: You have a guy thinking he's shielding, but really he's losing a bunch of his hp and can't tell because of how the UI and hp bar is with shields.

I don't think it would cause huge clarity issues. We have situations similar to this already with different types of shields (morgana black shield for instance). As it's on an item, you can see what items are built and account for it.

Personally I think the Anti-Shield items should act more like piercing items where they deal split damage between the shield and their HP. Like have 80% of an attack's damage get delt to the shield and the other 20% be delt to who you are attacking. Damage being calculated by stats and all that stuff before splitting between the 2.
