Stalice, The Corruption of the Monolith
A link to the skins board one http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/skin-champion-concepts/5sh6gjU8-stalice-the-corruption-of-the-monolith There is a world of perfect harmony, where all are part of the whole. The Monolith is the essence of all creation, and its denizens are but singular pieces of it. It is beautiful in its symmetry, and in its almost complete lack of uncertainty. The rocky beings that live there know their place and work to fulfill their duties to the fullest extent, functioning almost as a superorganism or hive. Stalice was just one more piece of the whole; his entire consciousness one with the Monolith, until the day he heard the Void. It was remarkably similar to the sound of the Monolith, but entirely different in it's purpose. The call of the Void in his mind started as a whisper; something he could readily ignore and continue with his daily life. However as days became weeks and weeks became months, the call became louder and more insistent. It began sublimating new ideas and feelings into his head; throwing his internal harmony out of whack, making him a pariah among his people. The call, in the end had drowned out even the song of his people within his mind. Over time the sound of the Void became a beckon, calling him out across his land, making him abandon his home and continue on towards places his people had always avoided. He arrived at the place where the call seemed to be echoing from; a fissure in the earth radiating volatile energy in waves. No longer in control of his own mind or body, he was unable to stop himself from descending down into it. Down here, he found what appeared to be a different, alien version of the monolith, radiating the song of the void. Upon touching it, his body was swallowed by the song and he was thrown into the void, becoming one with it's purpose. He was spit off into an alien land, the voice of the void commanding him to spread his new corruption across the land. He had been reborn.
Hey guys, I decided to make this champion concept earlier today because I got to thinking about the fact that we don't have a champion that siphons mana from a target anymore, after the rework to Kassadin a looong time ago. And while I understand that just taking a chunk of the enemy's mana all at once is actually a pretty toxic mechanic, I still think it could have a place in the game as something that happens over time. The character's inspiration came from me thinking about Aurelion Sol and how in his confrontation with the Void Rift we learned they were corrupting more than just the world of Runeterra, so I thought of another champion that came from a different world (Malphite), read his lore and in my mind made a connection between the Voice of the Monolith and the Call of the Void... I think it worked out prety well, tell me how you guys feel about it. Here are the abilities I was thinking of.
Passive: Sap Will- Stalice's basic attacks and abilities leave Shards of Monolithic Corruption in his enemies. These Shards drain the target's mana or energy over 7 seconds, stacking up to 3 times, and returning a portion of all resources to Stalice. If the target does not use mana or energy (both monsters and manaless champions) part of their health is siphoned instead.
Q: Corrupted Shards- Stalice throws out corrupted shards of the monolith in a cone, hitting enemy champions and scattering them on the ground. Enemies hit by them consume the shards, are slowed, and add one stack of Sap Will per shard hit
W: Boulder Toss- Stalice throws a boulder at the target location that breaks if it hits one or more champions, or keeps rolling in a straight line until it reaches its max distance. Any champions hit add two stacks of Sap Will. If a target already has three stacks of Sap Will, they are stunned instead
E: Part of a Whole- Passive: Stalice gains movespeed when moving towards an enemy with stacks of Sap Will. Active: Stalice pulls himself to a target enemy with stacks of Sap Will, slamming into them and knocking them up for .75 seconds and adding a stack of Sap Will.
R: Song of Corruption: Stalice's song of corruption radiates from his body, seeping into the ground around him in a large radius. Enemies with stacks of Sap Will have the siphoning effect doubled while inside of this area and Stalice gains armor and magic resistance while inside.
I slated (heh) Stalice as a top laner or jungler with great sticking power and a decent amount of CC, but with low damage on his own, because of his usefulness of draining resources. He'd be a tanky frontline initiator who extends in long, drawn out skirmishes but has no real means of escape in lane so he's susceptible to ganks. I gave him the ability to siphon health from monsters to give him a means of sustain in both lane and the jungle. Some of his intended weaknesses are decently long cooldowns, slow movement when not moving towards his targets, and lack of overall damage. Some of his intended strengths are stickign power, lowering enemy usefulness over time, and CC. Tell me what you guys think.
