Instead of another champ archetype pass, I want a Summoner Spell pass mid-season

The archetype passes have been mixed bags for the most part, I think that goes without saying.

But if we're looking to improve the diversity of the game, starting with Summoner Spells seems like the best place to start.

The game is already balanced around Flash, unfortunately.

That doesn't mean the other summoner spells can't be messed with. I'd love to see Exhaust get split into several options instead of the single most overloaded summoner in the game. Want to kill a tank? Exhaust them. Want to stop a squishy from killing your tanks? Exhaust them.

Honestly, there are plenty of reasons to take specific summoners, but it can feel pretty bad to take certain summoner spells right now, like Clarity.

Well. Clarity doesn't exist anymore. (Or rather, it's ARAM only). They've been slowly removing or balancing the crummy spells. The removal of revive is another example, as well as the scaling of ghost. Really at this point the only real work I think needs to be done is on barrier/heal.

Also, exhaust doesn't help to kill tanks... at least not any more than any other slow. 10 mr and armor is negligible.

Oh, it is? I never look to use it on SR, so I had no idea they'd removed it.

As for exhaust, my bad. I've been playing with some friends who just rag on it for being overloaded for so long that I just took it at face value. Should have gone ahead and checked that.

Regardless, you're right about the barrier/heal situation, though I think Barrier serves a niche purpose as an anti-ignite spell, which is rather interesting, to say the least.

Split it in half.

Dash is a moveblock that can't pass through walls. Range and cooldown are improved over live Flash.

New Summoner called Passwall is made. Creates a user-only Magical Journey tunnel for moving through terrain.

Dash would still be pretty powerful as an escape and engage tool. Passwall would allow for some pretty neat gank paths that are otherwise unavailable.

Personally, I think the issue isn't so much that Flash is OP, but that every other summoner spell simply isn't treated on the same level. Flash is likely worth keeping in its current state because it creates really exciting moments and enables plays that would not be possible otherwise. Few other spells have the same high cooldown, but they also don't really generate those same kinds of high moments, besides perhaps Teleport (and even then, it often gets used to just return to lane, which is boring). Giving each spell the power and cooldown of Flash could allow them to do similarly impressive stuff, and I feel there's room for effects like CC/damage immunity and invisibility in the summoner spell roster, which could similarly enable really unique plays.

Totally another way to do it.

If everything where as game-changing as Flash, that could make for some pretty neat effects.

yeah I'd love if flash wasn't the only option. Splitting it in two doesn't get rid of the fact most champions rely on it, so one or both will always be taken (and it weakens junglers who must take smite).

I'd prefer if all the other options were upped to be worth taking over flash, so free mobility isn't the best option

Yes

Not exactly related to OP, but from the looks of it someone downvoted literally every post on this thread about ~10 hours ago, by the time I'm typing this. What gives? Why would people even do that kind of thing?
