It sucks I cc, heal, shield, tank, wards and all the stuff you can do to help your teammate but it is useless if your teammate cannot get the kill. Maining support in rank solo que is so dependent on team.
Xtremey2 votesthere are two ways to support in low elo: pick an ap mid and play them as a support, or pick a playmaking support like thresh, leona or blitzcrank.
never play peeling supports like janna or soraka if you want to climb.

I 'technically' played support to get out of Bronze, but instead of "supporting", I just kept killing the enemy ADC and Support

BluePolarizer1 votesYou have to play either an initiator tank support like Leona, Braum, Thresh, Blitzcrank or even Malphite, or what I prefer is a pure AP support like Annie, Morgana, Fiddlesticks, Vel'Koz or Zyra.
I got out of silver easily with support Annie and jungle Master Yi.
Never play a peeling support unless you are duo or the ADC is known to be good (hard in low elo).

Try picking up Morgana whenever she isn't banned.
Morgana deals incredible damage with just 3 damage items (the only damage items you can get at full slot, without selling your GP5 or sightstone) while providing some of the best peel with her black shield.

if you are good enough you can hard carry. Also think about playing lulu in a solo lane as a tank or carry.
