7.8 Malzahar voidling change

I feel the change to reducing voidlings to 2 hp highlights a deeper problem with Malzahar without fairly addressing the problem. Simply put, voidlings are too damn strong. So much power has been shifted away from the rest of his kit to voidlings that you have to gimp them in the survival department. This is going to hurt mid Malz way more than it'll help against support Malz.

For example, Corki's autoattack is split into 2 damage sources and already hits 2 hp in 1 attack. In this matchup I was barley able to farm. Corki could easily elimintate my voidlings and visions have lost a lot of farming potential from the rework. In teamfights item 3085 can mow down voidlings without the ADC even meaning to.

Sadly Malzahar has become subordinate to his voidlings instead of the master. Too much of his gameplay and power revolves around them. If voidlings are left unchecked they are too strong and if they are too easily erased Malzahar's damage is lack luster.

Possibly solutions other than #RevertMalz2017 (my personal favorite).

First normalize champion interactions with them. Champions like Corki shouldn't get to double proc a voidling or any other fixed hit pet/object just because his auto attack is structured differently. 1 AA = 1 hit.

Give voidlings less 'HP' only if they are chasing a champion. Perhaps when they frenzy they lose 1 hp in their recklessness.

Let voidlings heal 1 'HP' every time they attack a minion.

Any other ideas to preserve or promote mid Malz and tone down supportlings?

I like the suggestion one person made about making their HP and stats scale with AP (or in my opinion, Mana. ) That way Malz Support cant abuse it while Mid Malz can still benefit from it.

I would be ok if with giving him back his old W, and just spawning 1 voidling with hitpoints at the same time from the pool. At least he would get some of his damage back. get rid of the whole hit count as a way to kill it.

They also need to bring frenzy back otherwise the voidling will be useless if it is just 1 of them.

In this case, the enemy adc and enemy support only have to deal with 1 voidling but Malz still gets damage back from the W pool like before.

Riot can avoid support lane abuse AND STILL LET MALZ Jg by simply allowing multiply to only work as follows:

  1. Voidlings Multiply when attacking Jg Monsters, Dragon, and Baron.
  2. Voiidling Quickly Multiply when Malzahar uses Nether Grasp.

Spawning only 1 voidling with W would allow for some harass of the adc/sup in lane but would not multiply.

Personally I think they need to reformat how the swarm mechanic works. Cause at the moment, Either swarm is unstoppable or it gets shut down before it begins. (More so that they made the voidlings even more fragile.)

Remove the swarm mechanics from the voidling summon, and instead maybe give him a CD reduction if a voidling kill a unit. This would allow Voidling summons to be used more for utility, while still allowing the possibility to swarm.

I don't really mind a revert to Malzy. But some ways to fix him probably without making him over-reliant on his voidlings nor his voidlings being too oppressive are: shifting his power budget somewhere else like changing the numbers a bit on his E or R or better yet, add a scaling on his W where the HP of the voidlings increase by 1 per an X amount of AP.
