Power to the Pony

I love to play jungler, due to Riot's work on the position in the last year they've made the position that much more fun to play. One of my favorite champions to play as is the mighty pony Hecarim, but is he really that mighty (anymore?). I know that when he was first released he was essentially one of the most OP champions out there, so rightfully he was nerfed. My problem is, has he been over modified? I find that The Pony's early game can really add momentum to your team's flow, but come mid/late game I found myself in a rut with Hecarim. I find that he lacks the damage of being a bruiser and isnt resilient enough as other tanks to take as heavier blows as other tankier champs, so it's like "what is he?". I feel like maybe Riot should reconsider revamping some power to The Pony's punch, he's such an awesome champion but he's been nerfed so much that he hardly carries much desire to play anymore. Thoughts?
