Rakan and Blitzcrank

Right now Rakan is the most trolltastic support in the game. You can't out-poke him (because of his Q and his tankiness), you can't all-in him (without hard CC), but the worst thing about his kit, the most cancerous and exploit-ish thing about Rakan is that he can use other abilities in conjunction with his W. Why is this bad?

Because his W is supposed to be a calculated risk. However, combine it with his E and voila! Now he can spam W all game until he lands it with no fear of being caught. You're also supposed to be able to dodge his W, but again, combine it with his R and voila! Completely undodgeable because you're instantly charmed before the packets from his W even arrive at your computer.

Now I know: you're supposed to counter Rakan by picking a support with hard CC. You have to be able to catch him when he Ws for long enough that the ADC can kill him. But this is not good enough. You want to know why everyone bans Blitzcrank? It's because, like Rakan, the only counterplay is in champion select. In Blitzcrank's case, you either pick tanky, or you lose. In Rakan's case, you either pick hard CC, or you lose. If you pick first, you're out of luck. That shouldn't be a thing. There shouldn't be any champions that you either counter-pick or you lose.

On a somewhat related note: when are you going to rework Blitzcrank? He's currently the 3rd most banned champion, and has been hovering around there for quite some time. When a champion is nearly always banned that should clue you in that something about that champion is either OP or rage-inducing. Win rate data from OP.GG suggests Blitzcrank is not OP, so clearly it's the hate factor that puts his ban rate so high. Blitzcrank is banned in 95.07% of games because nobody wants their champion selection narrowed to tanks only. The same can be said of Rakan, but he's only banned in 17.71% of games because most supports have hard CC, so it's only a problem if you want to play a support that doesn't have hard CC. If you can at least fix Blitzcrank then you'll solve my problem with Rakan incidentally, by removing the one champion that you have to ban if you want to play a non-tank support.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

you wait for him to engage then you use your cc and he dies because if their an idiot they will use e to engage early on while him being tanky is just riot fucking up items not really a rakan problem, and for blitz hes banned due to people being shit at dodging hooks seeing how thresh just outclasses him in everything besides tankiness(and most rakans have a hard on for engaging whenever anyone steps forward at all so its just like baiting out a gp barrel not hard)

That's what i'm talking about. You can kill him, if, and only if, you have a hard CC like a stun or knockup. Slow won't work, and i'm not sure but I don't think a root will either. Even if you do have a stun, he can just see it coming and cancel his W with his E. It's low risk if you have hard CC and zero risk if you don't.

I actually don't mind playing against Thresh. Riot did a good job making his hook good, but dodgeable if you're paying attention and see him wind up to throw it. With Blitzcrank's hook there's no warning. You have to dodge it after he fires it, which is nearly impossible unless you have a really good ping and fast reflexes.

Roots can cancel his w, including after he finishes the dash part of it. I actually didn't know he could cancel w with e but if he can then that would be a good target for them to nerf.

Nevermind i'm an idiot he can't cancel his W with E. He can still E out immediately afterward but not before the flourish finishes. So there's a slight window to catch him. If you have a stun or a root.

with over 150 rakan games i can tell you that once you press w you are stuck until its done or you get cc'd and any form of hard cc stops it besides with a weird interaction with displacements and with blitz hook thats all he has to get you with unless you let him walk up and hit e while thresh actually can recover with the rest of his kit if he misses or wants to use e first so he cant miss(and balancing something off of ping is not the way to go since if your playing you should have good ping a majority of the time

Yeah it turns out root does work. Tested it out in practice tool. It's just my opinion but 70 ping works fine for every champion I play against except Blitzcrank. There's just no time to dodge even if you react very quickly. You have to blow your summoner 4 and then you've only pushed the problem 20 seconds down the road to when his hook is ready again.

70 ping is a bit high your always gonna get a slight delay you want around 50 or lower
