I am kinda glad I didn't restart playing LoL when Cinderhulk was introduced,

Cinderhulk finally came and brought some nice meat onto the table, and here I thought Riot is now starting to move away from their shady old favouritism style of balancing.

But I hesitated and resisted the urge of relauching the client, because it's not like they haven't introduced us some real improvement before quickly going back to square one (and in some cases, it's worse than that) in the past. So I waited for I don't know 2 or 3 patches (? Not sure) and I saw that,

They are overhauling BC, buffing BotRK and gutting Cinderhulk. Turns out I was right all along. It's like a straight slap in the face to tanks while walking around shouting "see? squishies are better after all".

Why why WHY Riot, with every time you step forward do you almost always take 2 steps backwards later?

I get it, you're saying that Cinderhulk's introduction made tanks viable again but it also made Sunfire pointless to exist so the thing needs to get nerfed. But this to me sounds completely illogical, assuming I am not just bat shiet insane to begin with. They shouldn't have shared a unique passive in the first place if they were intended to fill different purposes for different phase of the game!

It's like having IE and Hydra to share the same passive, having RoA and Zhonya to share the same passive or hell, having Warrior enchant share the same passive with BC or Ghostblade. You see how ridiculous that is in the first place?

FINE. I will be generous and take the stupid gut and buffs on stuff (just like what I have always been doing as a tank lover), but please Riot, at least make the Cinderhulk and Sunfire's passives individual instead of unique.

At least I won't be too salty.

/rant

TLDR: For those who don't bother to understand what I am talking about, I am asking for Cinderhulk and Sunfire to have individual passives instead of sharing a unique passive. Because frankly

  1. It doesn't make sense and
  2. Tanks won't go back being oppressed as the walking HP bars who can sometimes dish out a CC or 2.

Oh no Tanks aren't going to be the best possible class aka "gutting cinderhulk"

oh noes

Cinderhulk will still allow Tanks to be good, they just won't be oppressive. Stop overreacting.

Cinderhulk doesn't make tanks oppressive, it simply reminds squishy players to build some form of defense when they are up against a team with both tankiness and some form of damage.

If anything sure, a nerf would have done the job. While the pointless buffs on other things are just, well, pointless why are they even there?

As I said, Sunfire and Cinderhulk shouldn't even share the same passive if they are intended to fill different roles for different reason and to be used at different phase of the game. it's just nonsensical to have them share an unique passive in the first place.

Riot is just afraid with any notion of making tanks remotely strong, same with some part of the community.

Cinderhulk was so fucking oppressive that people were starting to take Smite top just to have it.

It allowed Tanks to outduel most bruisers and most characters, squishy or not, as soon as they picked it up. It was only ever designed to allow them to farm better.

TANKS WILL STILL BE STRONG, they just won't be OP as fuck and always the better choice.

That's why I said something along the lines of,

"Fine have your nerfs but I will not tolerate the pointless buffs and overhauls just to make tanks' life worse. If you wanna do it all at least make Sunfire and Cinderhulk have individual passives, it doesn't really make sense to have them share 1 unique passive from the start anyway".

If you're not playing the game why are you on the boards? Don't you have better things to do?

This type of logic is something I never really get about gaming forums in general.

If I wrote that I still play the game today but share the same opinion would you openly accept it instead?

Does it matter if I still play the game or not if my opinion would always stay the same? I simply used it as an intro after all, it's not what I am emphasising in the OP.

"Gutting" Cinderhulk.

Most definitely not.

Trimming off excess power and readding it for its intended funktion? Definitely.

The Cinderhulk from PBE will be even better for clearing purposes in the jungle (which is one of its main intentions), but worse in champion combat (which is the role a different item, item 3068 , is supposed to fill). On top, it still gives jungle tanks an extra avenue for scaling.

I can see what they are doing, honesty I am not that bothered by the nerf in general. It's the buff that went alongside something else that really made me feeling uneasy.

And I just really hope the unique passive thing can be removed between Cinderhulk and Sunfire, seeing Riot is currently putting different emphasis on the 2 items, as it was meant to be the case in the first place.

Hence I can't see why they should restrict the freedom of building both if they are supposed to be used for different fields of expertise.
