Actually picking off-meta picks (at least in low-elos) works pretty good to me!

In the last games, I decided to pick some more off meta picks, such as Sona top, Teemo support, Braum top with exhaust, tf support, even sejuani mid. All these picks were successful . The low elo players don't know how to counter these surprising picks, because they aren't heard of them before. Do you think it is viable for me to keep going off meta, if - for now- is successful for me? Thanks in advance.

When you get to a higher elo it won't work so you'll evenetually reach a certain ranking where it'll be immensely difficult to climb. You shouldn't look for a cheap way or strategy to climb, it's much better to attain a higher ranking by actually being good at core aspects of this game.

In low elo enything works for the simple and pure reason people legit don't play the game, and if you go in some kind of slightly-crapper-than-average elo such as low diamond it just works because people allow you to make it work.

Until diamond 2 you're not actually playing against the enemy team, you're playing against your own lack of skills and your own team, after that, you actually hit the wall of a real opposition from the enemy team, if i could gather 3 players of my same skill level or clone myself 3 times i could win any game up to diamond 4-3 with only 3 players in my team.

This game has a mathematical basis, when you are not there, not in range, with your stuff in cooldown you have basically less numbers than your supposed total, people in low elo simply don't use their numbers so if the adc stops autoing in a teamfight because his mechanics are garbage/he's scared/whatever is happening in his head at the moment he's basically subtracting 20.000 gold to your team until he gets back into action, same works in the early game, a braum top against my renekton would just be a walking purse filled with 300g, same thing when i got filled top and i stomped the enemy camille (the strongest champion in the game right now, with absolutely NO counterplay unless the player is absolutely shit at camille) with maokai that is a champion supposed to be weak in lane.

I hope i clarified your doubts, now go and don't troll, so you will not be a burden on your teammate's backs. :)

As an honest answer, I say it works up to a particular point in ranked before the players will be aware of the unconventional pick and know how to exploit it. I've had a handful of games where players would just run it out of interest over strategically thinking. Most of my cases have come from blind pick however: Sona mid into Zed, Taric top into Teemo, Ziggs, Maokai (this was draft) and Vayne, Fortune into a 2v1 lane matchup. All wins, but not because of playing it the normal route. Each of those games had an element of unique safety to them, especially in the item builds. At some point, those just get found out but they're never off the table of possibility if you're confident enough.

ap or tank sona top? tank or ap sej mid? try rammus support and max w then E. it's hysterical especially if you get to tower at 6.

Meta is a subset of what is effective. There are always things that aren't meta that are still effective. Have fun discovering what non-meta things work (and trying to figure out why they work).

Play what ya want baby! As long as it works in some functional way I suppose, like AP Zed wouldn't do much damage right? But AP Varus' does quite a lot of damage.

I guess just don't be a jerk.
