Alright folks, How the hell do you counter vayne top

Its typical people pick a tankish champion top. they may pick yasuo or ekko or other people, but vayne is holy mother of god ridiculous. I was paired against her yesterday as pantheon, I killed her 6 times, but of course late game with her 1.5 second cool down on Q she can just destroy anyone. Im watching diamond and plat games on twitch and the vayne top is usually dominating. The only troublesome person I can think of for vayne top is yorik. Who isnt that troublesome. How do you counter this nutjob, and what do you do if youre a tank who got stuck against her?

Quinn is still a great choice vs Vayne top, the blind is good vs her, you can burst her pretty easily and you can roam with ult to set her team behind while she is stuck top.

What about when you dont know if she is going top during champ select. you think she is going ADC so you pick someone like garen or nasus , etc and get hard countered.

I don't play either of them really, but item 3082 item 3053 can help your survivability, mostly just treat it like a teemo lane, play safe, get what CS you can and wait for ganks or your team to group. You don't need to kill her in lane, just make sure not to feed, also TP around the map to make plays if you can.

Depending on which champ you pick you can usually kill vayne early if you get on top of her, cheese her by waiting in the brush if needed, and also use the brush to take less harass while in lane.

yeah its pretty much what I did as pantheon, I was 6/1 against her early game,but unfortunately ADCS can farm easier than panth and I had to do a lot of hiding in the bush and throwing my q's at her. It wasnt until level 16+ she started to beat me.

I still didnt like lane because 1, panth uses too much mana , 2. I was severely underfarmed, almost 50 CS less than her.

I just watched a GP in diamond/plat get DESTROYED by vayne , vayne is really hard to counter.

any other ranged champion innately has better early game than her and can bully her around.

vayne is counterpicking you, the melee champion. it sucks, we get it, its the equivalent to taking rammus mid when you see a zed on the other team auto lock.

if theres a vayne on the other team, and you dont know where shes going, lulu is the safest top laner to pick.

Oh dude its easy, the same way you counter her bot lane. You just have to wait until her weak early game kicks in. Just dont try fighting her before or after her weak early game.

Vayne top's weakness is that she needs some help in teamfights and dies fast if hardcc'ed. But she's really strong otherwise, in lane. Ppl usually camp her but it's risky, if her jungler comes it's possible to lose the 2v2.

Play either Nautilus or Malphite rush either item 3143 item 3110 . I prefer to go frozen heart for the aura and CDR at the cost of some HP.

Edit: I've actually been playing a lot of Vayne because I can't deal with Darius and there are other champions more worthy of banning.

While the first few levels may turn you off, someone like Malphite, Rammus or Nasus works well. You may think I'm just a shitter who doesn't know anything, and you're probably right, because neither Rammus or Nasus have any range, and "muh silver bolts" but I have pretty good luck with Nasus versus adc top. I max W second always because I'm just a dick, but in these matchups the slow really helps. If the wave is pushed to you and the jg ganks, a wither will slow Vayne down pretty good even if she tumbles. At level 6 you have good fighting power, and you get a nice choice between stickiness with perma wither+iceborn or reduced damage from frozen heart.(I go iceborn)

I was a nasus main, and yes, nasus is pretty strong, however if the vayne is good enough or the quinn is good enough they can beat the nasus. IVe only lost lane once to a vayne or quinn (quinn actually), but nasus isnt the guy I would wanna take honestly.

Even if it probably dosn't help you: The jungler!

Vayne has little escapes and will usually push you into your tower sooner or later, if you don't fall behind to hard, it's pretty easy to kill her with a good gank, and depending on your jungler it's also not that hard to dive her 2v1. Just remember to bring a pink post 6. However, if you're not premade with your jungle, it's gonna be rough.

Armor. Not all of her damage comes from the silver bullets. You can't counterbuild her W, so you might as well counterbuild her next best thing. Items that slow attack speed also work well.
