Reworks. Sometimes, you do them right. Other times....

Bârd··3 votes·376 views

I think we can all agree that riot has done some damn good reworks in their time. Since their reworks,Sion, Maokai and Xerath have become much more played, though I will miss the 90% magic pen xerath. But sometimes, you fuck up.

Remember when you could have aSoraka on you team and not be 4v5?

Remember when you couldn't kill the Zilean?

Remember when Veigar WAS NOT USELESS?

Yeah, I would agree that Soraka is still playable. However, she is not FUN anymore, or nearly as strong. They wanted to make her the quintessential healer of LoL, so they removed her unique sustain mechanic and punished her for healing people. Also, RIP ap raka. I will never forget shredding 150 MR and granting 150 armor.

Lets not forget the worst casuality we had until now.

Rest in peace, beautiful queen.

Unfortunately, I started playing after Karma had already been reworked. I will never have a "before" image of her rework. All I can see of her rework is how stupidly simple she is right now.

Its like comparing Lissandra (but instad of CC, shields+heals) and Lux. Both have similar things but are so different.

Depends on what you define as good.

Zilean is a great example. Yeah, he dropped in win and pick rate. But thats because his playstyle was vastly improved in a way that was good for people playing against him. Should that be counted as a bad rework?

Making whoever play against him have a better time against him by making him be less reliable and weaker overall doesn't equate good rework. Zilean was already a very niche pick and now he is even more niche but in such a bad way that it's "why should i pick this over anything else" type of niche

I agree so much with you.

If bot lane Zilean (what was completly made a non-issue by sustain supports/morgana who can out mana him) was a problem, nerf his bombs range. In midlane he was a counterpick anyways, so the range nerf could have affected very little.

The problems are:

  • he got tacked on CC that now makes it very hard to balance him.
  • he got shoved out of midlane, where was balanced, into a sub-par and manahungry support role.
  • Rewind, now not affecting Chronoshift, is redundant as a spell. Q and E could had a charges mechanic and it could have been better that having Rewind.
  • He is unreliable thanks to his damage being heimer grenade levels of hard to land.

I think that Veigar was done by the balance team, not the rework team. He isn't entirely useless but he does require support to pull off his burst. He probably needs some numbers toned down and others toned up.

Zilean and Soraka needed reworks. Definitely. I would say that Soraka is fine now.

Zilean needs more work, but I feel he is more interesting.

Maokai got a rework? a change to his ult =/= rework you know

He did. They changed his W to %hp damage from flat, made his E slow, and made his ult follow him.

It was drastic enough that he shifted from a jungler to a dominant top laner because of it.
