the way to solve this I think it's fairly easy and straight... but I don't know if this would be the way riot will implement... simply reduce items defensive values and add significant defensive ratios on tanks, that way they would be the only ones able to really utilize tank items while someone without said ratios would receive a minor stat increase that's not particularly effective.

The problem is Riot's recent support of fighters. Because fighters mix damage and defense, at the cost of CC. Riot supports the hybridization, and wants to maintain it. And Tank builds are kinda a misnomer, as a fighter will build one or two damage items. (Like the shaco in the OP)

Riot isn't just going to replace tank stats with scaling on the tanks themselves, as it guts the hybridization. (And Riot has no problem with that.) The real problem comes when a Juggernaut or Bruiser does the tanks job better. (And when Assassin are held back due to their bruiser builds) I think a better solution would be another Defensive scaling item. (Like Cinderhulk, but more generalized) Effectively giving True tanks a key stone item, that others can't abuse, cause they build hybrid, and not full tank.

Also, Their no way season 2 Tanks will survive if they did no damage. Without damage, you have no clear speed in the Jungle, and you would get pushed constantly into turret because you lacked wave clear in the top lane. Now in season 2, you might have gotten around the farming problem because you could buy Heart of gold. But today, the only gold gen is the support items, and Cull.

Fighters tend to have a way of scaling defenses of their own, for example if you take a look at Garen, he has that killing minions Armor/MR of his own and his 20% dmg reduction on command, while skirmishers tend to have either some sort of integrated life steal or means to stop damage, Fiora for example has both and well, lifesteal.

As for hybrid builds I don't think Fighters would suffer much from this change, since as I mentioned a lot of them have some sort of defense system in place already that benefits from defense items, but you know this is just speculation

lol you're fucking bad if you're trying to use that to say "tank assassins" are op. From the build, we can clearly see the opposing team was most likely ALL AD. We can then look and see he had no boots, meaning he can get kited and slaughtered, especially as a tanky melee champ. The player was most likely just much better.

Ah, So I guess Deadmans plate gives no movement speed, and does not apply a slow on the next auto when fully stacked right? I guess Shaco also does not have a Invis that can go over terrain, and allow him to approach without being spotted right? Also, going based off the damage he had dealt that game with nothing but tank items, It's also safe to assume he was insta-Killing squishies. Look at the obvious details before you flame please, thanks~
