I like the Aatrox rework.

Honestly, I think everyone bitching about Aatrox's rework is just mad that he is no longer a right click, rageblade stat check. Ive been spamming him recently, coming from being a 1mil mastery Talon main, and I'm in love with the kit. It has a few problems, but these mainly come down to clunkyness. The kit itself is honestly 100% fine. If anything, I'd say hes a very Over powered champion. With just Black cleaver and Deaths dance, my third Q can heal me for over 600 in a full creep wave. All this hate is biased with no actual time to learn the champ.

His passive is the only good thing about him and it forces you to purposefully not push lanes or lose against your opponent, also why does his ult death reset Q stacks? poor design, coming directly after irelia release...

Finally some positivity for Darkin Boi Aatrox ! [sg-janna]

It's crazy how many people despise the Rework. He's not perfect, that's for sure, but come on, begging for Riot to revert him, really?

The VGU is on point. I mean, look at him. LOOK AT HIM. Look at his Model In Game. Look at his Splash Art. Listen to his voice. Look at his animations.

IT'S. AWESOME.

And one thing that I appreciate a lot : the Rework isn't auto attack based. Old Aatrox was braindead in that aspect. [slayer-jinx-unamused]

Im not sure whats wrong with having champions that primarily auto attack.

Nothing wrong with it... we just have a bunch of them already.

I've been playing a bit of Darkin Boi Aatrox myself, and I think he's not nearly as bad as I first thought he was.

The only problem I really have with him is that using his E during Q feels a bit unresponsive at times, and chasing someone down when they're running away can be a real pain at times if you don't have both E charges up. (Though that may just be me. I'd appreciate some tips because I'm really struggling with this.)

Also, here... Have this picture of a smiling Aatrox. https://imgur.com/a/skj3rQR I was bored.

JESUSSAYSNO3 votes

Yeah, he's bad at chasing with his basic abilities. I've been running him Predator jungle to help with gapclose. Predator proc also stacks with your passive and forces them to burn mobility or eat your first Q. Glacial Augment+sudden impact might not be a bad choice for jungle Trox as well. If you can confirm your first Q, boi do you do damage.

Nevrankroaton1 votes

We need to be next meta man.

Let's go youmu first item. Predator. Freaking shurelya is we need.

They want to run away? THEY WISH.

Honestly my only grip is that the second Q isn't at the middle of the blade, so it would feel more logical that we can 'get close' more and more. But I also REALLY feel people don't use his W right.

Mains are always going to complain when they lose their favorite champ, and that's pretty understandable. But never believe them when they claim they know the new kit is bad; they are just looking for any possible way to discredit a decision that they don't like.

It's unfortunate that it seems the community never learns its lesson on this, but I doubt it will change. That's just how it goes; Riot knows better than to wade in and try to placate them because Riot has learned how this goes. They just expect it now, I'm sure.

It's not neccessarily a problem that the new kit is bad, it's just too different. There's not a single ability in his roster that is comparable to the old aatrox, if you're gonna rework at least let him play similar ie. WW Irelia they kept similar ability's to keep their identity and playstyle. They stripped aatrox of his unique W mechanic of sacrificing healing or damage. Meanwhile champs like irelia and WW have similar ability's however they are different.

Actually you are completely right , more like Aatrox is op , he deals so much dmg with his full combo , he needs to hit all Q knock ups tho , the problem is they are hard to hit , and if they make them easier to hit , he will be completely broken , his W is pretty strong , his E is pretty good and needed to set his Q , I don't know what the problem , if he sucks in fights well , then this is a problem that many champions suffers from , i really hate dealing with him , but if anything should be added to him , then it's that useless Wukong passive should have went to this Aatrox

I'm in love with his rework. I only miss his old voice, that was a unique aspect to Aatrox. I'm not a fan of the screaming, I actually found it more ominous that he was calm and collected while in combat.

Auz the Ripper4 votes

Most people aren’t complaining that he isn’t an AA champion. We’re complaining that he’s the clunkiest champion rework in several years and that he feels like a thug in a street fight rather than any sort of soldier that has ever been in any sort of battle.

JESUSSAYSNO2 votes

If you've ever actually watched fighting, you'd realize Aatrox's kit is very fitting. Its all about zone control and punishment. Power strikes and footwork to make them land.

He feels more methodical than just about any other fighter in the game to me. He's all mind games to play. Reminds me of a cross between Illaoi, Sion, and red Kayn. He offers fantastic zone control, and by god if he catches someone, he'll fucking murder them.

He's not an aggressive fighter. He's more of a juggernaut with a small dash.

50000000000000002 votes

Juggernaut is a good description of the new Aatrox. Sure, he has a dash, but that's because his Q is a self root otherwise.

JESUSSAYSNO2 votes

It may self root, but it's insane damage if you land it.

Phieldworker3 votes

I was able to beat the two champs I hate the most, Yas and Tryn, with the new Aatrox. I know he isn't exactly the same as the old one and I think that is the biggest complaint. But I actually like the new one too. I'm getting better with him already. Honestly I think any hate of a rework is because they already spent countless hours into the old one so anything different will upset the mains of that champ. There is a youtuber who hates Irelia rework and thinks the new one is close to a monstrosity. But I feel the community thinks otherwise.

Negative beat an irelia and Yasuo between my comment and this one. He’s got a weird identity right now I feel though. He’s not a one bully, he isn’t a tank, and I’m not fully sure how to team fight with him besides keep people knowcked up. But I did go 12/2 against Yasuo. He was probably just having a bad game but boy was I able to message him up.

Spikeman712 votes

Yasuo shits on Aatrox. He can dash every q aatrox fires. Sorry, but that yas must've been very new.

JESUSSAYSNO2 votes

Its not that simple. Aatrox is a better ball of stats, and you dont have to fight Yasuo in minions like a retard.

If yasuo attempts to go for a fight with yas passive down, Aatrox shits on him with nothing more than passive, AA's, and E resets. Second and third Q hitbox is massive enough that you can time it to hit him even if he's dashing.

Match up isnt cut and dry. Better player wins.

I’m sure he wasn’t #1 ranked Yasuo and yes his mobility kits butt against Aatrox.but whoever it was had some time on yas because he kept flashing mastery 7 at me. Like I said maybe he was just having an off day or something.

Hèntaî 3 votes

Aatrox is great, the only gripes I have about him are his E and Q. His Q is just a tad bit too slow which makes it weird to use, and his E just doesnt seem impactful enough aside from the passive.

Secret Butt Fun3 votes

Glacial Augment is a must-have when I play him. It makes weaving and 1v1's much easier since it diminishes their ability to kite. I recommend paring it with Domination with Ravenous Hunter for massive heals and Cheap Shot for easy early trades.

Bhagswag2 votes

Okay but man I don't agree with the ult. The old ultimate REALLY embodied who aatrox was, a killing machine without the fear of death, no matter how outnumbered he was. The new ultimate just doesn't feel like anything. it gains power when he's not fighting anymore. His revive is on a timer. Meaning, he's not THE enemy. He's afraid of death, because time is what determines his fate (12 seconds), and not whether he's in battle.

Fight, and be remembered, or die and be forgotten.

Fight (for 12 seconds), and be remembered, or die (after 12 seconds) and be forgotten.

The rest of the kit? Fine, I'll get used to it. it's what I had to do for Shen and I main him now. I just need something from Aatrox's ult, that sends the message that he will fight without the fear of death, as long as he faces an enemy. I'll even forget the part where the more enemies there were, the more his bloodwell would fill up. Just give me something that says come at me, because I will live again as long as I fight.

Pika Fox2 votes

Most fights are decided in around 5, even if people havnt started dying, 12s should be more than enough.

My Waifu Vanilla1 votes

The problem is the revive is meaningless unless you die almost at the end of it. If you pop the ult and die in 4 seconds you get a whopping like 20% of your health back. You are just dying again anyway. It is only somewhat potent when you die at like second 9-11, but at that point they can just wait it out.

Pika Fox1 votes

20% is still amazing, especially if you use your ult properly and use it as a major movespeed boost coming into the fight.

My Waifu Vanilla1 votes

I just don't understand why it has conflicting stats. The ooc ms is great for getting into a fight, but you're losing out on time on the massive ad steroid and giving your opponents more incentive to just wait out your ult. Let's say I ult from river and run mid to a fight. I get there at second number 5 of the ult so I have 7 left. I use Q1 to start it off on a carry and it gets flashed. I'm not catching him anymore so I move to the front line. I use Q2 and Q3 (MAYBE considering any CC longer than 2 seconds basically removes you from the game since it turns off your Q) leaving me with like 2 or 3 seconds left on my ult and absolutely nothing up for about that long.

There is ZERO incentive to hitting me. I can and should be ignored at this point and then killed after my ult wears off so I don't get the revive. Also, another scenario is I show up to the fight at the EXACT same time and the second i cast Q1 I get hit with a Cassio ult or some other hard CC and then I get blown up. I wait around for my revive which will be about 25% of my health.....and my Q is still on cooldown so I'm STILL useless. Even if they didn't kill me there chances are my Q would've timed out during the CC anyway making me useless regardless.

Pika Fox1 votes

The stats dont really conflict. You ult, flank, and get into the thick of the fight. You have assloads of damage and CC, and are a clear threat to the backline you just ran ontop of (esp if you run nimbus), and if youre focused youre still a threat.

If you have 0 incentive to hit the aatrox, the aatrox just isnt a good aatrox player. The damage ratios on Q and passive are enough to flat out murder most squishies, let alone decently beefy champs, even if you miss 1 Q. Q2 and Q3 are relatively easy to land and both can be done in auto range (Q2 via E back if they stay near you or not moving if they run back away)

My Waifu Vanilla1 votes

The problem is that with all of the Fiddlesticks and CC running around the best way to deal with Aatrox is CC him after he casts Q1 and then ignore him. You only have like 3 seconds to recast Q before throwing it on the cooldown and Aatrox does absolutely nothing without his Q up. I shouldn't HAVE to buy Merc Treads in the hopes that I can actually function as a champion. I can do all the things listed, but the second a CC gets thrown my way I either drop the Q or am forced to basically intentionally miss Q2 in the hopes of using Q3 at all since while I am CC'ed the enemy team can walk out of range of Q2 even with E up. Also, I have been having VERY mixed results with Q+Flash where the ability straight up doesn't do damage when I hit them dead on with the indicators.

Pika Fox1 votes

If youre playing into champs like fiddles youll want mercs regardless of if youre aatrox or darius or whomever. Thats just the smart buy, and theres various tenacity runes you can use in various trees.

His jungle clear is a little annoying at how fast it is. it seems like he already has his jungle cleared and is ganking a lane before im even 80% through with my jungle (I know he cleared his because he had more CS then me). Granted I play champs with a little slower cleartime than the more meta junglers but its kinda crazy how fast he can get things done.

Darkone70012 votes

Only reason I hate aatrox is we went from "This will be my masterpiece" to "I AM THE WORLD ENDER!!11111!!1111111"

I can second this. His clear is insane. His passive and Q both do nutty damage. His ganks are either fucking amazing or totally DoA. I run predator to compensate and secure the first Q.

Honestly, I think everyone bitching about Aatrox's rework is just mad that he is no longer a right click, rageblade stat check.

One: this description of Aatrox's kit is entirely inaccurate. Two: he is now only related to old Aatrox in name and the fact that he has a revive; his play patterns are nothing like the Aatrox that has risen to stardom in the past couple of patches. Three (my biggest problem with it): he's ugly, tiny, and has stiff animations that do not flow whatsoever.

Last avatarname2 votes

I have said it before on these boards. I have no problems with the champ they released. I have a problem with the fact that they removed a champ I really like. I liked his old simple form and I like simple champs overall. They removed one of my favorite simple champs, that is all there is too it.

But you can also say that it is because "I am just mad that he is no longer a right click, rageblade stat check". If that makes you feel better about the fact that I am sad about it.

GelsominoKiller2 votes

I mean, people liked him because he was a autoattack oriented melee carry. Preserving that gameplay direction wouldn't have alienated the mains.

Moreover, people wanted his "war inspirator theme to be fulfilled in his gameplay but that never happened.

I haven't tried it out TOO much, but I did enjoy what I have don so far. I look forward to more practice with his new kit.

That build gives me cancer. Aatrox doesnt give a fuck about AS or crits, he wants CDR, AD, and bulk. 0 bulk until third item, no cdr until fourth.

Up to 280% ad scaling on third Q, 55 bonus ad on his E, and 20% ad for 12 seconds on ult. If you hit your shit you can blow up anyone. He does plenty of damage.

Aatrox wins the GP lane matchup. He has better dueling and sustain. Comet+scorch does fuck tons of damage early and you can run him oom fairly easily.

JESUSSAYSNO1 votes

I agree. I played some 2 hours of practice tool and >6 games on him yesterday. He feels strong. Q scaling is so good, and if you dont waste Q charges on nothing and actually hit your spells, he does absolutely absurd damage.

If you miss your Qs, the champ sucks. But I want every person who says he sucks to look at the numbers on his Q, E, and R.

He seems like an intermediate level champ that will take some practice to really get down, but if he's buffed, i think he'll be OP. 280% ad scaling on third Q btw.

ModCaliCoastReplay2 votes

{quoted}

If you miss your Qs, the champ sucks.

I disagree. I'll often even go E first just to get an easy first passive hit and to surprise people.

Yes, his Q is important, but I truly feel that if you only play him to hit Q's, you're doing it wrong.

When I've been seriously on point with him so far, I'm managing Q on waves to get resets on my passive almost as often as I Q on champions, and I feel like that's a seriously underrated part of his kit.

I def agree with the OP though. The old version of the champ had one major problem, and that is that if his Dark Flight was down, his interactions were soooo limited. The doubling on his new dash gives him a lot more flexibility on engages and escapes.

The only thing I miss from the old version was the Blood Well management, the new one's a bit more braindead in that regard.
