I am experiencing this precise same thing. I think many players are. I have a few theories, if you'll indulge me...
1.) The loss of resistances has thrown many players 'normal' playstyles into awful territory. You could use MR and Armor as a bit of a crutch for poor matchups or bad play. With this training wheel removed... Many, many players are just feeding their asses off in the early game. It's insane how many players feed now. I do think people are getting better, but the armor/mr runes out of the gate are hot garbage, and one of the biggest reason the gamestate is so damage focused right now .
2.) Runes themselves have completely changed the way the game is played. Many of the guides and information about the early and late game are suddenly wrong or questionable. Late game scaling has changed tremendously, and early game is riskier than ever. A lot of players don't understand how the new runes work completely, and don't adapt to the changing landscape.
3.) Support and ADC roles are among the most impacting in the game right now. Most would argue that bot-lane alone can single-handedly decide the fate of a game! A lot of players are eager to try those roles with little experience in them. Bot lane is one of the hardest lanes to play in - you have some of the strongest jungle pressure in the game to deal with, warding is a bigger priority, and lane presence is paramount. Many players aren't ready for this difficulty, combined with the lack of defensive options, and you have a feeding frenzy.
