I am a bit confused on Shens spirit blade.

So i see that Shen's Q pulls he blade to him but does the blade just sit in one spot or does it move around as he moves around in lane?

Say for example Shen goes to hit a mage minion and his blade is 2 teemos behind his mage minions. Does the Blade teleport to shen at that point or does it sit there until he gets further away?

What is the current range that the blade teleports to you?

Thanks for any explanations it doesn't seem to explain it too well on the blades Idle game and ranges.

Basically, imagine there's a rope tied around Shen's waist that's connected to the blade. When Shen's near the blade, the rope is slack and the blade stays put. When he moves far enough away, the rope gets pulled taught and drags the blade after him at its maximum length. When he uses Q, he yanks on the rope and pulls the blade to where he's standing.

EDIT: as But Im Nunu points out, it also appears on top of you when you teleport somewhere (via your ult, the summoner spell, etc).

This is pretty much it tbh xD "oh yeah, I got a blade but I'll put it on a leash"

So similar to Oriannas ball except less control and it always comes back to Shen?

Sort of, but not quite. Orianna's ball teleports to her when she breaks tether range, the spirit blade stays at max range and starts following Shen as long as he's moving away from it. It only jumps to where he's standing when he uses Q or when he teleports a long distance.

Okay so the Q only pulls the blade and is used to reposition it or is the ultimate the only other way to reposition it besides running out of its range?

Q also repositions it (it "dashes" to wherever Shen's standing when he first activates the ability). If it passes through an enemy champion on the way, that use of Q gets more powerful.

I read this on S@20 somewhere but I can't find it so I can't quote it directly. But basically: If you use any global tp (tahm's ult, your ult, summoner's teleport, recall, etc.), the sword will snap to you. If you walk x distance away (like a screen's worth), it will pull the sword closer.

So if you tp, it will be where you will be. If you walk, it will move as if on a rope.

His blade is very much stationary most of the time. His Q cooldown is very short, you'll find yourself with unlimited usage of your empowered sword attacks and very fast usage of the blade repositioning tool during mid and lategame.

Interesting thing to note is that it has a time to travel. If you use W during the time it is sliding towards Shen, the Feint circle will be literally attached to it and you may just see the circle slide into your position. It's probably for the best that you use your Feint as soon as the blade gets to you, and not before.
