Spell Vamp-- any different from WotA now?

I'm clearly missing something and I know that because it happened last time I had a numbers question, but is there any difference between spell vamp and the short story that WotA's new effect is?

It all sounds like they went to great lengths to redefine it, but it still basically reads 15% spell vamp. 'Before resistances,' I guess.

Is it just spell vamp that ignores resistances? What am I missing?

It ignores resistances when calculating the heal.

Thus, you heal the same amount from tanks, squishies, and minions/monsters.

You are exactly right, it is spell vamp that ignores resistances. The point of this is that even when people stack mr you can still depend on getting your full amount of healing instead of mr stopping your offense and defense.

It is 15% of damage dealt as opposed to 20% on the old wota but at most mr levels the new wota is a healing buff as compared to the old one and the more your opponents itemize against you the bigger benefit it is.

That's pretty much what it is, spell vamp before resistances.

The only thing I could imagine has changed is that now that WotA has True Blood instead of spell vamp. It should stack with spell vamp from hex tech gunblade. (if you had any reason to get both items.)
