A remade ranked system: My crazy idea

What if we removed the requirement to win promotional games altogether but make the promotion require more LP? I bet I'm going to get verbally attacked for daring to suggest such blasphemy, but I have seen so many people saying that they lost because a player left, trolled, or just didn't do well. That said, i think that the promotional games add unnecessary stress to a game that is known to have its infuriating moments. On top of that, I think it's just a little bit too much. In order just to get to the series, you need to go on a hotstreak. If you pull that enough, shouldn't that be enough? The additional series you have to win is overkill. Now in order to balance this, I think that yes as mentioned before, a promotion would require more LP. On top of that, you can lose LP below the threshold of the required rank. When that happens, perhaps you have five games to get it back up before demotion? And no, I did not recently lose a series. I think ranked is too stressful to be fun. I just think that if this change happens, people might not be so hot headed in ranked games.

BTW, i voted that I'm a genius on the polls. I forgot to add an "abstain" option.

While there isn't anything specifically wrong with your suggestion, in not sure it is needed. Let's say that instead of promotions, we made the requirements for promotion at 150 lp instead of 100. Now consider for a second, what string of wins and losses would someone need to undergo to hit 150 lp in your system without having passed a 2 out of 3 promotion series in the current system?

As far as demotions goes, you cannot realistically make demotions harder while making promotions easier without breaking the system. Either you give players more protection from demotion but make promotions harder or you make promotions easier but also remove some protection from demotion.

From the ranked games I did play this season, I noticed that winning granted me what I would have lost, plus about 2 LP. This means that if I alternate from winning and losing perfectly, I would still be able to climb the ladder (albeit at a speed that rivals a glacier). Since it requires a win to get to a series, it means that I would be unable to climb if the pattern continued to hold. The system is saying "you're getting better, but we're not going to let you move up in the world. Here's a series to make sure to that." BTW, I got my idea from looking at the OverWatch ladder and the Clash Royale ladder. There, you reach a certain milestone, you're promoted. No gimmicks, no tricks, no rules, just right, Outback Steakhouse.
