Not a Single Mod

It's been a few days now since the Veigar changes have had the forums in an uproar, and not a single Riot employee has tuned in to provide us with any context as to why our favorite little master of evil is getting squashed by the nerf bat. Could you please let us know what's going on? As a helpful reminder I will list off a few of the main concerns we on the GD have with this change so they are all present.

  1. The Q being a skillshot. This change is actually on the fence, we cannot come to a consensus of whether the Q changes are good or bad, because of the ability to multi-stack with one Q. The downside is it makes it a bit harder to harass in lane as champions can now dodge it. Which in my opinion is an acceptable tradeoff.
  2. His ult ratio. This one has us a little upset. Now, on top of no longer having access to DFG, he is losing quite a bit of power off of his ultimate. We read what you said in the notes about the Veigars on the PBE blowing up people a little too early in the game, however, later in the game this could pose a problem to his efficacy because more people will have built magic resist by that point, lowering the damage even further. In essence, this is a bigger nerf than it first appears because Veigar cannot reliably blow up the squishies on the back line, meaning quite often he will have to settle for blowing up the frontline tanks. When they have MR he is already at a disadvantage, the removal of DFG meant that there was less of a chance of the tanks dying or even being dealt huge chunks of damage already, but now losing part of his ratio makes that chance rather obsolete.
  3. The third and final change is the one we are least happy about. Veigar's entire kit revolved around hitting that stun on the enemy, especially now in the midst of the high mobility meta where 50% of all champions have a large dash or blink. Now, with the delay on the stun, he will have very little chance of landing it on.... well, anyone really. This will make his burst combo almost ineffectual in the early game, as 100-0ing someone early requires his dark matter to hit. So even if you land your 2 other skills and ignite should you have decided to bring it, there's a high probability the enemy will survive and flash to safety. But that isn't even the worst part: Veigar's escaping tool from ganks is now gone. On top of being immobile and squishy, now he has no way to escape from a gank situation besides flashing. meaning the second time the jungler comes around, Veigar is pretty much guaranteed to die. Also, even if we take the junglers out of the picture and just focus on his counters like Zed Talon Leblanc Kassadin , his only reliably way to "outplay" these champions is to land his stun directly on top of them and burst them down before they can do anything. Which he will no longer be able to do giving them a much easier time bullying him out of lane all game. All in all, there is no part of this change that any Veigar players like, and even those who don't play Veigar know this is a pretty heavy nerf to an already somewhat unviable champion. So we ask you Riot, even if you don't heed our advice, will you at least acknowledge our opinion and tell us WHY you are going through with these changes? Please?

Why should riot ever visit their own forums? are you stupid? They have reddit. I mean, clearly their REAL community only uses reddit.

Please realize that the stupid comment is in sarcasm, and not serious :C

Good x3 Ive gotten like two warnings for sarcastic replies like that >_> Despite saying it was sarcastic in the bottom, hah.

But in all seriousness riot suffers from social media syndrome; once a developer gets big enoguh they no longer use their dedicated forum and instead get all of their feedback from the generally larger and easier to respond to social media communities; Twitter, facebook, and reddit.

Do Rioters work on weekends? I was under the impression that very little, if anything, happens at Riot on Saturdays and Sundays. I'm hoping that we get some answers today or tomorrow, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I'm hard pressed to remember a recent time that Riot really listened to public outcry (the tiny Cassiopeia poison buff hardly counts)... Except when they didn't gut Lee Sin after some players complained.

But usually even when they don't change their minds they have a mod come to the forums and give a little speech as to WHY they are nerfing said champion. No one has even had the courtesy to do as much as that for us on this issue, which is especially sad given the severity of these changes.

I don't know when this "usually" is that you speak of. They tend to stay really silent on most tops on the balance boards. Heck the last 4 months or so Ghostcrawler has said that they (Riot) need to work on more communication with the community. (and we have yet to see it)

We've already had a mod on to give some context to the Mordekaiser changes for one. They gave is a little quip for sona on her current lack of counterplay when they gave her a couple of repeated nerfs after her rework, and like it or not the mods have given little speeches after a few of the jungle nerfs, meddler i believe it was going so far as to say on one of them it wasn't an intended nerf to Jarvan/Lee Sin but something they saw that had to be changed(this is referring to the smite radius reduction). These are just the ones i can think of off the top of my head.

Youd think that on the weekend a few responsible rioters would like to peruse the forums and get feedback for their work. I dont know, just a thought... I mean, when i do writing for a person i always post it piecemeal and get feedback on whatever i do or change. LIke... A few days ago someone had me write a luffyvsguts fanfic (for them to draw), and while i was writing it i was constantly posting it to the forums of the site to make sure i was keeping both the character and spirit of the two characters while not making one or the other over powered.

I always say wait until after noon on Tuesday. Give them a few days (and most prolly have the weekend off) to look and read what happens on the boards. And then to talk it over. So if you don't see something by tomorrow night about the Jungle and Veigar changes then you can riot. And i'll be right there with you.

Yea I don't even play veigar and even I see how easy it's gonna be to dodge the stun...Really big nerf imo.

The Veigar PBE announcement thread was at 60 plus votes. Then the changes hit the PBE and next thing you know its down to -1 - at the time of this posting.
