Riot Balance Decisions. Why?
Riot seems to be balancing primary around pro-play at the detriment of balance for the regular player base.
The highest win rate champion in the game is Warwick (#1/140 w/ 54% win rate). He has no nerfs on the PBE for 8.8 (the pro's do not play Warwick).
However Azir, Ryze, Kalista who are the 3 lowest win rate champions in the game have been nerfed repeatedly into the ground because the pro's play them. Ryze is the 2nd lowest win rate champion in the game (#139/140 w/ 44% win rate) and he is getting nerfed further on 8.8!!! (if PBE nerf goes through). And before you say "Ryze is OP at high-tier play"... with Diamond (top 1% of players) he has a 47% win rate.
This is just getting ridiculous. Does anybody think it's a good idea to leave the #1 54% win rate champ alone, and nerf the 2nd worst 44% win rate champ? There are millions of people that play league... balance for us regular players... not the pro's.
I'll add that Riot's attempts at balance for the pro's are largely unsuccessful in my opinion. On any given patch the pro's only play about 30 champions and mostly ignore the other 110. It gets boring when you see the same champs over and over. After 8 seasons of this I think it's time to admit that the current pro balance strategy is not working for the competitive scene... and on top if it you are making the regular players suffer due to massive imbalance.
What I believe Riot needs to do: 1: Balance for the regular players. Ignore the pro's. 2: Force champion diversity in the competitive scene by using variable # of lockouts/bans. This could be done many different ways, for example. -In a best-of series you cannot play champions that were played in previous games -Or in a best-of series add 10 more bans on top of previous bans so that on the 1st game there are 10 bans, but by the 5th game there are 40+10 new bans
