Specific Matchup Question: Playing as Nassus against Volibear

Of all the champions that counter Nassus in lane (which is basically all of them), by far the worst matchup i've had to face is Volibear. He has an incredibly strong level 2 or 3 all-in, and even if i get a lead later i can't fight him alone. Even if i manage to not die to him early, it seems like he just wrecks my team later.

I'd appreciate any advice, especially from Volibear mains, on what works against him, and what items i should be building against him (the typical Nassus items don't seem to work, and i'm not sure whether to build armor or MR against him).

I am also interested in this discussion on how to fight against Voli. I can't call him op because I've always thought his kit was rather fair but I've seen on many occasions where he was recked the entire laneing phase and still came out and eat everyone with minimal CS and kills because he's just so darn fat and tanky. HEll I even had this very same matchup of Nasus Vrs. Volibear where my volibear was suffering from SERIOUS ping issues (600+) while spending most of the game under tower trying to fix it and he still managed to shut down the Nasus.

Well my view on it is I don't walk into lane with the intent to take his turret. I even walk in to lane considering I'm already behind by 5 or 6 kills. I stay passive and near turret if possible building Frozen Heart and Spirit Visage (the armor lowering his AS while protecting slightly from the bite and the MR protecting from his ult and just giving me more health.) Your job is to get to late so you can obliterate squishies, not one v one a volibear. If you get to late and are with the team volibear won't be worth anything. you bring more to the teamfight.

You are taking free dmg from him... Start cloth or Dorans, CS without taking dmg for free, ask the jungler for ganks, your wither is one of the best ganking abilities. Nasus has problems only with Riven and Darius from the melee champions early.

As Nasus, you have 1 responsibility and 1 ONLY...get to 450+ stacks AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

You should never all-in your opponent unless you have a gank coming your way. All that does is waste stack time. A smart Nasus doesn;t care who his lane opponent is because you arent engaging them anyways. You are perfectly fine with farming under turret (assuming you have CDR) and are not concerned about losing your turret or taking theirs. You lost your turret? Great, thanks for giving me extra room to farm minions while you leave lane and roam.

The only time you should be getting kills is by using TP, other than that...get to 450+ stacks and win the game for your team.
