I have to ask, Riot. Why're you not doing the obvious thing with spellvamp?
It's not difficult. Not in the least. You know how abilities have AP ratios that make every one scale in a way that makes them balanced? You know how if every single target ability was 1.0/every AOE was .33, the game would not be balancable?
It really shouldn't take much to do that to spellvamp. Spellvamp ratios. Make it so that if a champion's too good with spellvamp, you can nerf that champion's competence with spellvamp. Making it so that it ignores MR? Is that actually supposed to achieve anything? I mean, other than encourage noodle fights where two opponents heal more than they get damaged. I'm sure that would be all kinds of fun, really, but how exactly is that supposed to make it less broken on Vladimir/Akali or less useless on everyone else?
Riot, this is the first step. Add spellvamp ratios and any further molding of the stat will come that much easier. If it wasn't a crap stat and you wanted to add a counterbalance, you could add a magic thornmail. Can't do that now 'cause no AP champions can really deal with it. If healing ever becomes a problem, say, on minions, you could add a poisonblood stat that specifically reduces the amount of healing one gets from damaging that unit. Hell, you could do that anyway. But the first step. The thing that will make more of an impact than anything else?
Spellvamp ratios. I'm honestly perplexed as to why you haven't already done it.
