I'll be frank, the stat should've been removed at the same time you removed dodge. But time moves on and that's not quite relevant. All that remains is that crit's an awful stat. It makes a ridiculous power curve for ranged AD's that hits them mid game and makes the flat ridiculous late. You'll never really get away from the fact it's a entirely luck based stat in a skill based game. And it makes AD itemization extremely wonky.

In terms of reasons why it shouldn't be removed, I believe I've only heard one. "But what about ranged AD's?"

It seems you're working on the mandatory class at the moment. So, really, there's no better time to right the mistakes of the past. So're we gettin' rid of crit now? Timing's perfect, water's warm.

Hopefully they replace crit with a better system that can still work with champions like Yasuo (or not, I'm all for Yas nerfs)

But it's so stupid when you have 1% crit chance and crit 2 times in a row at level 1.

As an ADC main I approve of crit removal. RNG should never be a factor in a game of skill and tactical advantages.

While i totally agree on the inention it´s not crit that is necessarily bad, it´s the RNG that comes with it. And they totally should have gotten rid of that RNG years ago already.

Crit is a bad stat, but it's also a valuable stat too. If you couldn't crit, tanks and fighters would be running rampant never having to worry about the enemy carry melting them. Can you imagine that? Playing Darius or Irelia, and the enemy carry is unable to kill you but you're able to kill them with ease? I feel like crit helps keep carries doing their job. Of course, it sucks when you're playing a tank/bruiser and carries are melting you but if they weren't, then carries aren't doing their job efficiently. Unless Riot buffs armor penetration to a degree to compensate for the removal of crit.

It's funny that Riot considers Anivia and Karthus able to do crits. There's nothing random about those crits, they can't be boosted by crit damage modifiers, but they're still effected by crit reduction modifiers (really Riot, that's low). Something more like these crits could be another alternative to the current system.

Honestly, the only reason Riot has given for why crits should stay that holds any water is "crits are fun to get!" Yes, but they're terrible to have used against you. We've all been at the point late game where an ADC is killing people in two or three crit empowered auto attacks that happen in barely over a second. Much counterplay, so fun, wow. Glad they have a resource that prevents them from doing that again instantly to the rest of my team... Oh yeah, they don't. Just stun them? My stun was on the way to them when I died, you know travel times.

How is Riot going to get rid of Critical strike without reworking the entire defensive itemization first?

Tanks needs a rework before (most) Marksmen can even think about playing non-crit.

Or y'know they could just rework crit into a %increase to auto attack damage instead of a random chance for double damage, like how ashe's passive works. Everyone still deals the same amount of damage its just no longer randomly game changing.

I don't think crits in themselves are the problem. RNG is. Shaco's Q, Fiora's, and Ashe's passive are all fine. Jax's 100% dodge is fine too, % dodge wasn't. Riot can rework crit or add some new stat to keep marksmen competetive.

While they're at it, they should consider removing the other RNG from the game as well. Shaco's E (minion and monster miss change changed to minion and monster damage reduction) and Volibear's E fear (very minimal impact though, since the monsters and minion barely move, but Riot could change it to a stun without changing much except making it more consistent, or a slow + flee). There might be some other RNG element that I forgot.

Well, I don't really think they will. They'll have to change certain champions who rely on critical chance so they... don't rely on critical chance. They already stated that they aren't gonna remove crit. And if they did, where would that leave ashe's passive. Are they really going to rework her again?

I feel crits are a sort of necessity. And it's not entirely luck. It's math. If you have a 50% crit chance, it means one out of 2 shots will be critical hits. Granted, I would be interested to see what Riot would offer if they did decide to remove crit chance.

So basically what the OP is asking for is AD scaling to the likes of what we see on AP mages. Yay i love the idea of AD carries running around with 500-700 damage auto attacks.

I think they already kind of addressed the fact that dodge always felt a bit bad to play against, you could be in a fight where you should win hands down then all of a sudden you get a few bad die rolls and lose because your opponent dodged a couple big attacks. Crit on the other hand makes people have to think "can i win this fight if my opponents crits me once or twice?" (more if it late game and they are rocking like 60%+ crit rate). You always feel good when your attack crits and the tide of battle changes.

Crit is a sick star for sure, can it be annoying? Sure. But removal of it completely would be stupid. It's part of characters and a huge late game stat for adcs, no reason to get rid of it. If anything they need to just make items that have more counter measures to negate op crit rates in late game. Much like randuin stops speed burst champs maybe there should be a tanky item to temporarily affect crits?
