How many more mobile champions are next?

cFlame··22 votes·2,243 views

Hey I just can't wait for the next mobile champion especially after Kalista and RekSai, you know? I mean really, its so fun to just press the magic button and make everyone cry in tears that they can't kill you. Especially against Udyr, since when was the last time I ever saw that champion, the beginning of last season? I'm so happy that we can have an endless cycle of CC is countered by mobility, so therefore you need even more cc to counter they're mobility. I just love how Zed doesn't actually take skill in comparison to a mage like Veigar, since there's no room to give a champion like that power Zed therefore becomes EASIER! HAH! Isn't that just great? Alright so if it wasn't obvious, I'm being entirely sarcastic. I think its ridiculous that Riot hasn't perfected they're already existing champions and just goes on to make more that are seemingly clones of previous ones. Think Kalista to Varus, if that's what you call original then I applaud you on your fucking huge ego. Claps...... Then scratches his eyes out. Could you take a break for a few months without releasing a new champion and fix the problems with the old ones? Oh yeah I remember there was a time a couple of you Rioters said you actually thought Mercial Crucible was what kept Ashe and Varus from being good picks, and I'm still not sure if that's what you believe. I just wish you could communicate with us and ask us "Why are assassins on the rise?" So we can answer that by saying: "You nerfed everything that wasn't broken." Or: "Why are utility champions never picked over SUPER SAFE champions?" Then: "Because there isn't itemization that benefits from utility, but there is pure itemization built for bursty mobile champions." What if there actually was an item that scaled with utility and granted burst based on that alone? Some people out there might think: "But utility gives power to your teammates, not only yourself! You can't make it even POSSIBLE for them to come up to the same level of mobile champions!" But then you should think, isn't mobility helping your team out? "Oh sh-" Yeah, not dying is op; Being able to go in, and burst people down before they can do any damage to that 150 health Mundo is apparently op. It shouldn't surprise anyone if some players built BorK and Last Wisper on they're second and third items just so that they could instantly kill the jungle, top laner, and support. But they have mobility, so they don't have to actually trade with anyone else.

"Zed doesn't take skill in comparison to Veigar"

Wait what? The only thing Veigar needs skill for is landing smartcasted E, otherwise you just press 1 button late game (usually R) to kill a random person on their team.

Zed needs manipulaitng of shadows in a way to make flashy outplays and stuff that wouldn't be possible if you were a casual Zed player.

I main both (i prefer playing Veigar tbh cause i don't have to put myself at risk or anything to instantly kill the opponent) and this is some BS

ylneveaH evoL7 votes

it should really read like this "Veigar shouldn't take skill in comparison to Zed". But Veigar requires a tough lane phase, mana management, sufficient items and farming, and is super vulnerable all game long. Everything that Zed was designed to do is squandered by his over-abundance of strength in just ulting, spamming abilities and then shadowing or re-ulting to safety. There is little skill left in Zed, especially since he gets bonus AD on his W and can build pure armor pen and a bork, and then take every tower in the game. Last I checked, positional mastery and mana management takes more skill than bashing your face on your keyboard to get a guarenteed kill and get out, whilst splitpushing taking the incredibly weak towers

Junkο1 votes

What mana management? Start flask and mana pots and use Q everytime it's up. You never have to use any other spells because you can't trade early and because W is AoE it could push the wave, which is something you do not want as a Veigar.

Needs items and farm Zed requires at least 2 "half" items to actually become a threat. Veigar negates his mana costs (for the most part) with 1 item and he doesn't need items to be a threat early game because he gains AP from Q, has high base damages and ratios on abilities and against an AP mid has a 80% AP scalling.

Mana management takes less skill than predicting everything the opponent might do to outplay them. Predicting and outplaying also takes way more skill than pressing R then typing /laugh

Zed R deals only 100% of his AD, it requires you to use his other skills and puts Zed in melee range.

Veigar ult has 500 base, 120% AP scaling(even ignoring the fact that Veigar has high AP makes this ridiculous), 80% enemy AP scaling. You type /laugh cause it's not automatic anymore

InsaneSamurai1 votes

No? Veigar gets good at his stun, uses it to free farm all day, then qr autokills people. That's even easier than LB.

ylneveaH evoL2 votes

uh lane phase has a pre 6. And good luck using your E to get harass, as you will OOM yourself in one rotation and then have zero pressure or ability to stack Q

InsaneSamurai1 votes

Sure, but it really doesn't take very long for a solo laner to get level 6, so he can be careful for that short period of time. Especially when he's in the most gankable lane.

I'm not talking about the E for harass? Who does that? I'm talking about defensive stunning, so when you get anywhere near him you get stunned and free bursted. Sure that costs alot of mana, but now the other guy is almost dead, so I'd say it was worth it :P

Did you somehow miss the entire release of FF?

I'm sorry to break your bubble, but you're just trying to fish for upvotes now. Zed is strong, yes. But he also has a high skill cap, and his skill floor isn't even particularly low. I don't think anyone has ever disputed that.

Two different teams entirely. Champion design and live balance aren't that interchangeable.

What if there actually was an item that scaled with utility and granted burst based on that alone?

How on earth would it even work?

So I'm a bit tired and grouchy right now, I'll admit it, but mobility has its own drawbacks. Kalista has one of the lowest damage outputs of any adc, Rek'sai is nothing special now after her nerfs, and next patch, a bunch of assassins are trading in damage to keep their mobilty. Everyone makes tradeoffs.

I was wondering the same thing. Udyr is still very much strong, one big reasons is his mobility, tanky nature, and yet great damage/utility.

I'm sorry to break your bubble, but you're just trying to fish for upvotes now. Zed is strong, yes. But he also has a high skill cap, and his skill floor isn't even particularly low. I don't think anyone has ever disputed that.

He's not powerful, he's OVERLY powerful. OP, as they call it these days. He has a one burst kill against most mid lane mages that new players can execute without trying. Additionally, they nerfed mana regen, essentially nerfing all mana mages while non-mana assassins take no hit! Zed is by far the worst offender. What Zed needs is a nerf because, I agree, he has a high skill cap. Play on that. He could take a heavy nerf and still be strong as hell to players who use him the way they should. he has a ton of poke and mobility.

Two different teams entirely. Champion design and live balance aren't that interchangeable.

Riot can adjust resources as needed. Their human workers aren't trained to one specific task only. They can talk to one another :P Now a balancer wouldn't do design work without the proper training, but this isn't a long stretch.

How on earth would it even work?

Not true at all. Kalist doesn't have as much range, but doesn't sacrifice much damage at all. Her spells are insane and her mobility is even more so. She has her drawbacks such as, I was saying, her lack of reach that some other ADCs have, but she also has her link. But I wouldn't say she's OP. She's not. As for Rek? Yea, she is! At the same time, Rek has some drawbacks as well!

Side note, did you know Rek's tunnels will hide cait's traps? And hey, if you want to be a real pain, you can put Teemo shrooms at her tunnels ;) Show Rek some love by trolling her tunnels. Wait... I want to rephrase that but it's 2:40AM and I want to go to bed.

  1. Play Zed. New players screw up his ult constantly, Zed cannot ult, miss all his abilities and magically blow up a mage, no matter how much you think so, if the mage manages to get hit by all of Zeds abilities, early on, then they still have a chance of living, if they don't then OH NO! An assassin assassinated someone.

  2. No Riot can not just move the balance team and design team around interchangeably, It wastes time, Trying to get a balance team member caught up in what they are designing, literally just wastes time, especially in an area he isn't as skilled in. You people think having 6 or 8 people in a team is somehow a bad thing.

  3. Rek Sai is not overpowered. She was a bit overtuned in some scaling, but Rek Sai sucks, and I have no idea what her role in the game is really suppose to be, because it isn't being a tank. And being a fighter is pretty meh, because her ult is just an crappy version of teleport. (Imagine if you can only teleport to visible wards that show up on the minimap) She doesn't even clear the jungle or gank all that well.

  4. Kalista or whatever that spawn of hell is, is overpowered in mobility, not damage, she gets her damage when fools try getting her while she kites infinitely, Otherwise playing Ashe or Sivir, I eat that bitch for breakfast.

  1. Play any champion other than Zed. Better yet, play a mage against Zed. I dare ya. One partial combo at 6 can take down any squishy. Now if it could take 80% of their health, that's one thing. That's an assassin. But to take down a champion all by himself with one combo id ridiculous. Riot has even admitted Zed can one combo kill just about any mage early game, and they like it. So don't go and pretend like it isn't there :P

  2. We all have human brains. You're not thinking clearly, and sadly there's no reasoning with a toxic member of the community who won't take a moment to consider outside of the box thinking. I want to elaborate but three sentences in I realized I was wasting my time, I'm sorry you feel this way. Riot has done it before.

  3. You have been stuck in lower division bronze all your LoL career, so I can understand the confusion. See, mobility and vision is CRUCIAL to gameplay. It's not about having a shitty teleport, it's about having mobility to reach your team/allies, objectives, and more at ease. A 'fighter' as you put it is very nice in gameplay. She has some CC, range when it's needed, gap closers, and a hefty amount of health to keep her fighting. She can be either tanky or damage, but I've seen some great plays when going mostly tank (I've only made it to Silver myself, so I haven't seen her being fully utilized I'm sure). You can also do some pretty neat tricks with her tunnels such as hiding traps or identifying where your enemy is (or isn't).

  4. Anyone who has been against a GOOD Kalist can agree she has a lot of damage. What she lacks in, however, is reach. Take Cait. Cait can completely outreach Kalist, but Kalist's mobility can be a real bitch if you don't have a support to tell them to back off. Kalist can also (as I call it) 'bunny hop' to and away from her foes, essentially giving her the mobility I'm sure you're implying. Sure it's very powerful, but so is Flash, Ghost, and Sivir's ult... and not to mention the several support items. You just said Rek is useless because all he has is mobility, and now you're saying Kalist is OP because she's too mobile. Make up your mind. And yea, I know it's Kalista, I don't know why I shorten it to kalist. EDIT: Not to mention Ashe has her ult with amazing CC potential (q/w), but Sivir has great reach with her Q. If you can get out of Bronze, you'll see some great plays esp by Sivir who is VERY strong. I highly don't you 'eat that bitch for breakfast,' because a strong Sivir player can be terrifying. Good luck though... seems like everyone is being dropped into Bronze who was Silver, and Bronze players are going to elo hell. The soft reset was far from a soft touch.

  1. Are you shitting me? Do you even know why Zed is overpowered? Let me say what your problem is "Zed used his FULL combo on me and I died as a squishy mage" oh lordy, Name a mage who's full combo DOESN'T insta kill people? In case you don't know why Zed is a problem let me explain. Thanks to the mana problems (Which will be fixed, I know it) non mana reliant champions became dominant, Obviously this means Zed, Akali, Kat etc are going to rise. This is to be expected, The problem is, Zed has more shit in his kit then he actually needs, He doesn't need the extra attack speed to combo someone, so they took that away so he can't split push like a monster as easily now. They have said they have more tweaks for him, hence why I tell people to quit bitching about the one thing they have done which will soon follow with more. Another problem with Zed is he has a decent escape, which really can easily be solved by lowered the range his Shadows can go, As a jungle main, Zed is doomed the second I see him waste his W.

  2. Riot has not done this before, and another thread stating this idea has been brought up and a Riot member flat out said this would be horribly inefficient use of resources. But thank you, I am sure anyone who disagrees with you must surely be brainless, wouldn't want you to explain yourself, I mean whats the point in trying to share any information that I would be too stupid to understand (Sarcasm)

  3. Oh jesus this one, I think you need to research more about my rank, Where it shows I got to bronze 1 from promos and then didn't play anymore ranked the entire season other then to climb from bronze 3 to 1 (When LP decline was a thing still) in 1 afternoon, Nothing to do with "Being stuck in a low division" when rank is nothing more then a worthless label. Yes her ability to tunnel is for that, I was talking about her ults purpose, for just that, what is the actual point when a teleport is literally better in every single way, Again. In case you can't comprehend this, because you seem to think I am too stupid for you, I am talking about her ult. Her tunneling is good, her ult is -not good- it serves no purpose at all. Her CC is 1 conditional knockup, and a brief slow thats a skillshot, Not heavy enough CC to justify being a full tank, Her scalings are being ripped nerfed down, and she is losing her ability to even be a fighter, she serves NO purpose other then to be flashy.

  4. ... Kalista has terrible damage. This is widely accepted. Except by you which means nothing to me. Cait having a high range doesn't mean Kalista isn't complete bs to the rest of the ADC's or nearly every champion in the game so I don't get what your argument means. "Oh cait outranges her early on" so what? I don't know why you just told me how her mobility works, I am pretty sure it was understood that I know how it works. And yes, Burn that flash then she hops back again, now you have no flash and she is still hopping back. No champion should be considered not bm or balanced based on whether they need multiple people to take them down, Yes getting a Leona or Thresh to grab her and CC her while you murder her can work, but that doesn't mean she isn't a problem. You also seem to forget that unlike her jumping after every auto attack, those items, and abilities have actual cooldowns, and much better uses then to mabe catch one person, who can nullify even those with enough attack speed.

  5. Wha? I never said all Rek Sai (A she by the way not he) had mobility, I said she has no real purpose, and her ult is a sucky version of teleport, and I never said Kalista was overpowered I said she is bullshit. As in, Toxic, Anti fun, The profanity you scream when you can't chase her or get away from her, because of a retarded hop.

"Not to mention Ashe has her ult with amazing CC potential (q/w), but Sivir has great reach with her Q. If you can get out of Bronze, you'll see some great plays esp by Sivir who is VERY strong. 1. Really. Your going to still use that ranked crap, 99% of all games I have played on league for the last 2 years have been everything except ranked. I go against platinums and golds in normals, I have played with diamond elo friends, and gotten my ass kicked and sometimes kicked theirs. Whether its them having a low MMR or me having a high one I don't care because your rank doesn't define experience at all. I don't understand your Sivir comment, I was saying the 2 ADC's I play (Ashe and Sivir) are completely and easily capable of destroying her in lane with ease by any competent player.

"Kalista has one of the lowest damage outputs of any adc."

Uhhhhhhh...she has an infinite stacking ability...Plus she has a very high damaging Q and her passive W does 3X more than a Vayne W proc at level 1.

Narasimha1 votes

she has an infinite stacking ability

Which is great! Except almost every other adc can kill her before she can actually build enough enough stacks to do the damage. Having a steroid really makes a difference.

her passive W does 3X more than a Vayne W proc at level 1.

It also requires a buddy. Vayne can proc hers faster, and more importantly, by herself.

Actually, I think the only adcs she can out dps (assuming equal gold and experience), are the 'utility ones' Ashe, Varus, and I BELIEVE Sivir. She hurts as much as any adc, but not as much as other adcs.

Zeds skill cap is not stumbling over all the outplay options you have lying around everywhere. His skill caps as high as a rivens which is. "don't miss your combo you're going to do at point blank anyway because mobility".

Why stop them? They obviously have no idea what they're doing as a company, let them fail. Let them finally realize what they think they know if far from what they actually know. I barely even play Ranked, and I have a better understanding of balance and champion design than probably 50% of Riot Games.

Out of the last 10 champions released, 8 of them had dashes. Of those 8, 4 were originally released with Resourceless dashes. (Until Lucian's got nerfed) (EDIT: 5 if you want to count Aatrox with ls) Out of those 4, 1 also had another resourcless global teleport. At this point, Riot can't even pretend they have enough respect for how overbearingly powerful Mobility has become.

Kitten of Evil1 votes

To be fair, they did recently release one incredibly immobile champion as well, Velkoz . Though looking at the past five, I'd have to agree. Mobility seems to be auto-include -- Braum has the least mobility but still a dash-to-ally, Azir Kalista Gnar and RekSai all have at least one mobility skill. At least Braum's and Azir's cost mana. Kalista, Gnar, and Rek'sai have free mobility.
