Wins and losses in ranked and MMR?

Does anyone know what the trend for MMR is like if you constantly win then lose the win then lose, etc.? Does it stagnate or does it slowly rise or drop? I assume the ones to really know are the ones who played during the seasons ELO was made public and not hidden.
