Runes in 2017

Excited to see that runes are on the radar for 2017! In the state of the game post, riot made mention of expanding the current mastery system from 3 columns to 5. This is a great change, I'm just not sure how the rune system is going to distinguish itself from the expanded mastery system. Will runes really be needed after the mastery changes? I fear the inevitable math equation that gets solved after a few weeks of play.

Alright lets move on! Continuing from the State of the game post, Meddler states the following, " We’re planning work on runes this year, with the goals of addressing some frustration points with current runes, offering more interesting choices and making pre-game power more recognizable in game (less plain stats, better feedback on what stats are delivering)."

Glad changes to ruins are being made; though I still have a few lingering concerns.

Mainly I fear that the cost of runes could make that in game power a point of frustration instead of fun.(If i'm understanding correctly runes will feel more powerful in game after the update). Secondly, if they do provide more than just balls of stat, does that mean we wont see them until pre-season 2018? Maybe I'm expecting the changes to be bigger than planned, but even small mastery changes alter the landscape of league greatly. Runes have mostly stayed untouched.

Also Interested in what the goals are for ruins, especially when it comes to the new player experience.

Thoughts on quantity vs quality? Just curious if there is a plan to reduce the number of purchasable ruins, while simultaneously making them more distinctive?

Back to pricing; I would love to see runes come in bundles. A bundle of 5 for the marks, glyphs, and seals; A bundle of 3 for quintessence. (with a price decrease)

As it stand's, I operate on the standard 2 rune pages. This, because every time I see the 6300 Ip rune page I buy a champ.

Any way, would love to here the communities thoughts and wishlists for ruins in 2017!
