Runes/Mastery analysis after using new launcher!
First off, I must congratulate all who worked on the new LOL launcher. It takes a lot to impress me (I do appreciate good design and aesthetics) and you can color me impressed!
That being said, one part of the new launcher was not to my liking (just my opinion as a small fish in the world of LOL): while the mastery page taking up the full screen is beautiful, I found it hard to multitask in champ select as I like to change my masteries depending on what is being picked.
Couple this with the the full screen rune page and it got me thinking:
First, I would love the ability to resize my mastery page and save it for future games. (Watch - this'll already be an option that I somehow missed lol).
Second, with the continued talk of lacking in supports I thought it could be alleviated by removing runes altogether and moving them over into the masteries. Each row could have 3-4 options and a 4th row could be added to each category. Not only would this simplify the process for new players, but it would also allow you to focus on champion select without trying to edit both runes and masteries.
In the beginning runes might have nearly the exact same options and values (conflicting options already in the mastery page would be combined), but overtime with balance it would allow for more champion types to feel like they have keystones and options tailored for their play style.
Anyway, just my two cents.
