Since Mana Regen has been nerfed
why don't we just lower mana costs to compensate?
Edit: I don't mean any DRASTIC changes, just like 10-40 mana off of a spell (except you
).

If we took every flat mana and mana regen value in the game and multiplied it by 10, and then divided all the mana ratios (Singed/Blitz's passives, Riftwalk, Ryze's abilities etc.) by 10, then the game would be completely identical except that the numbers would look different. Same number of spells per mana bar, spells per 5 seconds of mana regen, everything.
The question to ask is, why was mana regen nerfed? Has that goal been accomplished? If so, is there anything that can be done to buff mana without invalidating whatever was gained by nerfing it?
That kind of defeats the purpose... In any case, it's only been nerfed early game, right? I thought the intent behind the changes was that late game, mana regen would have more impact.
It doesn't.
And why do you think that is? Was not the reason for the changes so that health and mana regen items had similar strength at any point in the game?
Step 1) Buff Athene's regen to +100% of base (so it competes with Omnomicon)
Step 2) Buff every champion's base mana regen; increase the base slightly, increase the growth stat significantly
Mana would still have the early-game disadvantage, but that disadvantage would stay in the early-game.
It doesn't matter how late in the game you're in. After any serious encounter with the enemy as a mana-dependant champion, you usually have to B no matter how little damage you took because you've burned most of your mana. Then, by the time you've recharged your mana and left your base to pursue an objective, you've, at best, 20 seconds to pursue an objective before whoever you killed comes back alive.
Unless you have blue or you're an ADC with
, mana regen is next to non-existent. Let's say you do build a mana regen item and you're getting an average of 8 mana per second back, but your skills cost anywhere from 40-100+ mana each and you have to utilize your whole kit effectively to neutralize the enemy. After that, you're waiting seconds in between casting abilities unless you b.
