Why do I lose LP when one of my teammates is gone for the whole game?

Just an honest question, why do you lose LP when you have an AFK? I dont mean like, leaving and coming back, or leaving when you are about to lose, I mean leaving the game at 5 minutes and never coming back. Just curious

Because you gain LP for every match you play where some one afks on the enemy team. Also its a safe assumption your not going afk, so the odds of this happening to the enemy team are higher then your team and the law of large numbers dictates AFK players will win you more games then losses on paper.

Edit, this is not accurate if your toxic as hell or rage quite games. That being said its totally your own dam fault for both of those situations.

If you lose no LP so long as someone else disconnects, you could theoretically arrange for someone friendly to you to disconnect on purpose (take a hit for the team) when you don't like the match ups in Champ Select or see that the MMR distribution across lanes in the match is bad for your team.

Making everyone lose LP eliminates this loophole.
