Turn off autofill in ranked

Its seems like every game now either I get autofilled or one of my teammates does. Usually leading to either me feeding because I don't know how to play the champions in the role I get or my team does, 99% of my ranked games that I lose is because an autofill support, or jg that doesn't understand his/her role. I get it that this was implemented to speed up q timers but tbh I had shorter q timers last season. I don't mid autofill in norm games but in ranked where I want my team to perform at 100% just turn it off, or have an option to q with it on or off. please. Autofill also leads to more trolls in the game. I just want to have fun, and I can't if my tank support backlines and my jungler can't smite... Please just let me q with it off I don't care if I get 5-20 minute q timers just let me turn it off! I would rather have long q's than lose my games.

EDIT My idea which I forgot to mention was to have an option to q with only players that have autofill turned off as well, and the ones that play with it on q normally. And I dont mean turning it on as choosing "Fill" as your primary or secondary I just meant as in straight up not get autofilled in general.

ANOTHER EDIT What I was saying is that you can select fill in your role but you have autofill turned off so that others are not autofilled. But you are because thats the role you picked not because rng. This way you dont get people that were autofilled. (Unless they chose fill as their role which in that case you shouldnt worry because they knew what they were getting into.)

ANOTHER ANOTHER EDIT CUZ I SUCK AT EXPLAINING MY THOUGHTS just a simple toggle, where it usually tells you (Autofilled activated) you can toggle it on or off. It wouldnt be a different q it would just be parameters on matchmaking settings. Like how in Halo you can set your q's to search for people with the same ping as you, or same language. Just that in league its autofill on or off

Don't protect me from autofilling.. Protect me from autofilled team mates.

yes. What I was saying is that you can select fill in your roles but you have auto fill turned off so that others are not autofilled. But you are because thats the role you picked not because riot hates you.

Ranked is about consistent skill in the game, auto filling places most players in an unfamiliar role ( they should know enough to be proficient ) and it's hard to be consistent with unfamiliar roles.

If you turn off Auto Fill for you then it forces players with it on to Auto Fill more. That in turn pushes them over their limit, so they turn off Auto Fill, forcing the remaining players to Auto Fill more. So on and so on until you have to disable Auto Fill to have a chance of getting your role.

We saw this idea of yours last year with normal Fill. As more players bailed out on Fill because they got Support too often, the remainder were forced to play Support more often, and they left too.

To your credit you're doing pretty decent on most roles, with ADC being your Achilles heel. You've played 8 different champions in the role (including Yasuo, which I totally get because of your comfort on him and discomfort with the role), so the first thing I'd do would be to narrow down your champion pool there and get better at 1 or 2 champions in Normals rather than maintain your shotgun approach. You've done pretty good with Jhin, so I'd start with him. Maybe try some AD Casters like Varus, Ezreal, or Corki and see if they're to your liking.

I dont like to adc mainly because you rely on your team to not ignore your excistance. Which they end up doing so I have to 1v2 in the back line vs 2 assasins while my team chases a full hp maokai.. I play Jhin and Ashe at adc. It's just that I'd rather not. Mid is my go to, and top I can handle, but I keep getting jg and adc for some reason, not even support. And its not that I dont know how to jungle or adc its just that its annoying to have 0 influence to the game when all your solo lanes int

It's my experience that no matter where you go you feel like you have no influence because the other lanes didn't do well.

Still seems problematic. You're splitting our current Solo/Duo and Flex Queues into 4 queues:

  • Solo/Duo with Autofill
  • Solo/Duo without Autofill
  • Flex with Autofill
  • Flex without Autofill

Plus Normal Draft (with and without Autofill?)

They disabled Normal Draft on most servers at the start of this season because they were concerned there wouldn't be enough active players to support 3 draft queues, making 5-6 draft queues would certainly push them over the edge.

Also, how many Support mains do you think mind Autofill and would bother turning it off? Not many, they usually get Support regardless. You'd create queues where the most bottle necked role of matchmaking wasn't being played nearly at all, with no fallback plan. It's not unreasonable to think that it could take a Bronze/Silver queue time from 2-3 minutes and make it 30 minutes to an hour.

For better or worse, we all need to be in the same boat, with either Autofill turned on for all of us or turned off for all of us. Picking and choosing won't work.

If you're not queuing with people who have Autofill on then you're effectively doing the same thing as splitting it into 4 separate queues, you're just doing it from different menus.

I guess, I just miss the old q's where I wouldnt get 4 retards on my team. And 5 sometimes if I get autofilled as well. Trust me its hard enough to 1v9 everygame but having to do it as a support is certainly harder

Maybe if Riot made it so supports are somewhat more fun to play, and rewarding if you do good (Not so team reliant) then people would actually q for that role

I personally think Support is fun to play every so often (and that's why I queue as Fill in Blind Pick), but Ranked is dominated by the mentality that you must be the one to carry your teammates. True or not, that's the mindset.

A non-team reliant support... that sounds like a very challenging proposition, but I wouldn't say impossible. I suspect that's what has driven a lot of people to play Mages as Support, they feel they can contribute if their team falls through. The trick is to do it in a way that doesn't make traditional supports useless.

not gonna happen. people dont like to support so RIOT has to force em to play support an crap

Maybe Riot should make supports great again

I remember back in season 4 the saying was:

"If you don't know how to play all roles, you're not ready for ranked."

Now season 7 everyone cries even if they get their secondary role lol
