Definitely Not Dominion is kind of a disgrace to the original gamemode.
The original gamemode would more often than not have an eternal 1v1 in the bot sector but at least it provided more options to try to mess with your opponent and stealthy win. Now with the bot sector closed off, it's just a constant fight over the top pillar. Whoever holds that single pillar the longest wins the game. But the problem isn't even that, it's the fact that all these new players who never played the original Dom have no clue how to win the map now. It's upsetting watching my whole team run mid time and time again while the enemy is all top and the score is completely one-sided. With top being the only thing that matters in the gamemode now to, it's boring feeling like that is constantly where I need to be. Trying to back door the relic every so often is nice, but it's impossible to actually steal the enemy's home pillar because all a single enemy needs to do is recall and push you off it. (Not to mention 90% of players don't seem to know you can recall in the mode even.) Before, with all 5 pillars, you could break off from the group and go and take their base one, maybe forcing bot away from their pillar, giving your team an advantage. Now the game is just, "Clusterfuck 24/7 and hold top." If you're caught without your team, either you just get gangbanged or you're unable to do anything because actually accomplishing anything in dom requires you to idly take capture points.
If the new players who know nothing about the original mode are enjoying it, then I am glad for them, but for us older players who enjoyed dom (the very small crowd of us there is), I feel like the changes to dom have made it boring, unentertaining, lack luster in gameplay, and requiring the lowest degree of intelligence to win. Sure, you can call it more of a team mode now, but most of us queue solo and the League community is not known for being polite and listening to others. If the buff in the middle didn't ping, making it seem like it actually had an existing value, maybe teammates would listen more often when you tell them the top pillar is literally the only thing that matters in Defs not Dom now.
