Season 6 Turret changes: Analysis and Thoughts

Pre-season 6 turrets took longer to kill due to their armor/mr stats.

Why did Tencent decide to make turrets faster to kill by reducing turret stats and introducing herald buff?

The simple explanation is that they want the strategic part of the game to start earlier than it used to be, as an example:

The early game consists of farming because if you try diving most likely the turret will kill you and you dont have enough damage to out-push opponent and kill a turret. pre-mid game you have a herald to help your early game, and the weakened turrets.

Is this a bad thing? No, as time progresses we're going to adapt and do more pre-mid strategic maneuvers, at first it feels like they weakened turrets so that annoying dives happen more often and the game snowballs faster, but the real truth is that we have not been playing right, we're using the same strategies used in season 5, this is season 6 now and we have to adapt so that snowballing is rare, the minion mechanic is a preventive measure for snowballing, so why isnt it working? well: you have to give players enough time to adapt, ofc early it's going to feel snowbally, but it's going to get better from here.

As a final thought: revert the +500HP turret buff, i dont want season 5 gameplay anymore, i want to see what this new s6 meta is going to be like with the new minions/herald

Where the hell have you been? I wont bring up season 4 as its not rly relevant here, however even season 5 was about early game. (in the professional scene it always has been) To say you like the idea of league being more early game focused in season 6 because of how weak turrets are is simply ignorant. The game isn't anymore or less "early game" Its that late game is almost entirely erased. Its a snowball contest.. Except the amount of strategy behind it is far less. Granted one who gets an early lead, with gold etc, should have a higher chance of winning, i will not deny that..However at it stands, League's late game isn't even a thing... Dragons are worth nearly nothing after the first one, and rift herald has been a failure. If riot is trying to make Summoners Rift's avg game time shorter, thats fine.. but its going to be a long time before they balance 125 champions (or w.e the exact # is) around a 25 minute match that has been a 30-45 min game for 8 years.

no.. ur just bad. I forgot to mention we got a passive gold buff, further increasing early game potential, ur just using season 5 strategy/mechanics, that's why you fail and cling to snowballing, in the future everyone is going to adapt and not let snowballing anymore by actually using herald/dragon right, along with the minion/gold changes, bye.

What evidence are you even using to say i'm bad? I've never played with or vs you, and if you are looking at my profile you will see i'm still a higher rank than you my friend. Just randomly calling me bad is a horrible/weak argument.

Edit: Oh and riot them self said they wanted the mid game to be more snowbally... and they did a damn good job with it.

well, getting herald buff is is going to help transition to mid-game, along with turret changes. in order to stop snowballing, you're going to need better team-work, ur allies need to move out of their lanes to help, Tencent made minions able to push so that you get time to roam more, so that when your team needs to counter a herald timing, you dont lose cs, the whole minion thing is so that it lets you roam more, why? so that you can further ur strategic goals. I mean it all makes sense when you add it in, you just have to stop and think why riot changed the turret, introduced a herlad, changed minions and gold buff passive, they want earlier strategic maneuvers w/o s5 punishments.

Which is essentially the downfall of it all.. It pigeon holes league to be 1 dimensional. At least before when someone was making a rotation, they had to make sure it wouldnt backfire.. Now its basically, you are ahead let me make it easier for you to stay ahead. Which pretty much kills any strategy behind the game after one person has the lead.

Now riot has already said they are looking to fix this by making Rift Herald and Dragon more appealing so that towers arnt the only objective worth taking (outside of baron). So i'm not freaking out. But as it stands, the game is not in a great spot, and rioters have admitted and agreed. Which surprises very few given it is pre-season.

TL;DR The early game snowballing is in a bad spot, riot knows this and is going to work on fixing it, thus i'm not worried about season 6 that much. Currently the pre-season is pretty "bad" in terms of balance, but there is a lot of potential with the changes currently on the PBE.
