Do people seriously flame Sona players in high elo?

People flame everything in every ELO.

If there is a way for the opponent to save face (by implying your champion is no-skill ez-mode) or an ally to shift blame (by blaming anything but themselves), someone is probably going to take it.

There's a guy on these boards who goes by Dr Sona--Rubixcube or something, who recently hit Masters. One of his duo mates is a Sona main I think and this is around D2. Corozon or Chrozoron or something is his handle. I once looked him up and he has very impressive stats on Sona so I guess it's viable in very high elo.

People will flame anything that isn't perpetual LCS meta and does poorly, even if it isn't bad (or is even good) in the team composition. People will also flame anything that is LCS meta for being precisely that.

Basically, people will flame anything.
