Lissandra PBE Passive @Riot

Lissandra's passive has always been lackluster. It's essentially a Nunu passive with different charging mechanics. X Spell costs no mana.

Every champion in the game has 4 abilities, and they could be buffs, shields, line skillshots, dashes, blinks, etc. It's harder and harder to find a unique way to create a QWER spell. But a champion's passive.... That should mark them from everyone else. A unique identity. Something that champion alone can do.

Lucian & Master Yi both double strike. Lucian's makes sense, he's got two guns. Yi's could be modernized. Nasus & Morgana's are scaling spell vamp and lifesteal. Lux and Leona's spells have a debuff that's procced off autos and does magic dmg. Galio and Diana. Every so often their melee auto becomes AoE. Blah etc.

We see the unique ones. Katarina's Voracity resets. Kled's Skaarl. Cassiopeia's Serpentine Grace. Viktor's Hextech cores.

Unique effects/abilities that strengthen their identity.

Then there is Lissandra. A free spell? When her build typically has her buying items that make mana costs irrelevant.

She's an evil Ice Witch. She's often referred to as the "CC Queen." She is cold and sadistic. She has her sights set on taking over the entire Freljord and she is supposed to be Ancient and immortal and the Herald of the Watchers. She's ICEBORN.

I do feel her passive should be connected to CC, but that should make her stronger. Not a little more mana healthy? And the testing for empowered Autos didn't feel right, cause Autos don't really function in her kit flow - and it looked awkward.

When Lissandra was released, it was mentioned that her job isn't to necessarily kill the enemy team/carries, but to set up the game for her teammates. I loved the change made to her ultimate about restoring lost HP should she use it on herself. Cause the dive and lockdown is her kind of play. Her kit is centered around her body. She is a controller. She's a living ice nuke and if you tempt her, she will absolute zero you down.

So how come you can't try giving her a boost when she does inflict her cool embrace on foes? When Annie casts a spell, she gets a charge for a stun. When Ahri lands her spells she gains stacks to suck some of the soul out of her enemies with a spell.

How come Lissandra can't charge up a new resource based on cc landed on champions?

Q - Heavy slow on first target hit, smaller slow/damage to those hit with chunks? Like Zed. (Increase counterplay in laning, reward her positioning)

Passive - Iceborn - When Liss affects an enemy champion with a cc ability, she gains a stack. Some number grants her next ability bonus true dmg, or converts it to true dmg.

I used to love playing Lissandra. But she just isn't unique anymore and she isn't living up to her full potential.

I'd rather see her passive give her a small shield when she cc's an enemy champion.

Would make sense with her kit too. If she indeed is a meant to be ccing for the rest of her team, why not give her a little shielding to help her survive said task.

They had an experimental passive for her that was like a lich bane, but they didn't want to rush it live so they decided to buff and bugfix her current passive for now.

  1. You can't really put more damage on Lissandra's spells. She has so much cc and lock down that if you give her any burst damage she becomes oppressive and self sufficient.

  2. Riot likely chose to empower her autos because she all ready has to get close to enemies, and it was a boost to sustained damage rather than burst which is less likely to break her.

With more damage to her kit she would be worse than LB with Sigil of Silence was. I agree, she needs a new passive, but giving her more damage is not the way to do it.

I agree she could use a shield.

She's had a relatively low pick and win rate for a while now. She's around sometimes in high elo but she's worse than most other high skill cap champions for other players, she doesn't have any of her own damage to back her up and relies entirely on her (less dependable) teammates. She essentially puts a handicap on her team by taking up the role of countless other champions that can do what she can't.

She's kind of a support that isn't a support.

Kind of like how Bard is a jungler that isn't a jungler.

Just being what they are and doing what they should do tends to hurt their team as much as help it.

Not that either can't be played with success (even in lower elos) but their kits don't fit the roles they're put into.
