Tips on how to counter zyra support?

AP MF jk please don't unless both you and your adc understand why that is a valid pick under certain situations. In general Zyra is weak to pull champs. (technically she should counter them since she can spawn plants in the way but even in Challenger you rarely see the reaction times for that) Thresh is meh vs Zyra due to easily getting poked and not being very tanky as far as tanky supports go.

Nautilus and Blitz are good picks since catching a zyra generally means she will die. Blitz will have more kill pressure on her but Nautilus is much much safer if he does get caught and is less likely to get poked. He is also better in teamfights.

The other good option is bard, since you can ult those about to get ulted by her, if there is a plant in front of her you can use Q to stun her, portals allow for good escapes, and you can heal through her poke. Also very important is Bard roams much better than Zyra so he can apply pressure to other lanes.

Avoid playing most melee supports that can't all in her. Alistar and Leona are pretty sub par vs Zyra because she and her adc can turn on your adc if you go in, and you can no longer protect them. If you can afford it you can load up a support rune page with a bit of extra MR. Other options include strong roaming supports paired with a very safe adc so you can apply pressure to other lanes. Building a fast Locket can help a lot.

Things like Xerath and Brand support can poke her hard in return, but they both run the risk of getting caught in her grasping roots and getting bursted by her and her adc.

All have the tools to rip her plants apart, and that is half the battle. There is no one that can really match her overall range. You would build AP with all 3 of them, but it's their ground circles that do most of the work for you. You play safe until the Zyra makes a mistake or otherwise "shoots her wad", then use your ground circle to wipe out plants and follow up with punishment.

As stated in an earlier post, the "dirty hooker squad" has their upside against her, but a good Zyra can "predict" your hooks like anyone else and deny them with her plants. But only if you telegraph them or fall into a predicable pattern.

Bard as also stated in an earlier post, can win trades with Zyra and can use her plants against her. Orianna can actually return trades and tear down her plants fairly quickly with her ball, but you have to be very careful about where you position yourself to do it.

The hidden counters. Sion doesn't give a total biscuit about anything Zyra does and can essentially walk up to her and beat her down. Karma can negate most of her damage with shielding and can hit her back with some steak on it. Galio can negate her plants when she uses them with his healing shield. After that it's a matter of getting in on her. His passive forces him to stack MR against her anyway to gain AP and his ultimate is a bloody nightmare for anyone in the bottom lane.

All are skill vs skill matchups. As a Zyra main, I can testify to the contents of this post. "Feel the thorns embrace? The day after my wife shaves her legs, like clockwork. You have nothing on me."

Three years ago. She is popular again, so if you come here: A main may be used to block hooks/grabs, but Nautilus is good. Morgana is also a good pick. Lux and Zilean can zone her if you play well, like other long ranged mages. I think Alistar can work paired with high burst. Nami is great counter if you know how to play her. Nami's stun and life steal combos picks away at her health. Or if your adc is ready then you can ult and stun right after, shes done
