What to change (Part 1: champions) (Chapter 4: Anivia)

So, let's see. Anivia Anivia, the cryophoenix.

The problem with Anivia is that she was one of the first apc in league of legends, and since that day the game way created, She wasn't changed a bit. And sadly, this shows. Anivia has zero mobility, her passive is seldom useful, and her wall could really, really be changed by now. But let's get to it.

Passive: If you are in a 1v1 or an 1v2 trade, this passive does one thing if it's activated: It delays the inevitable. Not useful in every sense, but has a huge cooldown in "exchange".

Q: Flash Frost: This spell is really, really slow. I think the only thing that should be changed about it is it's projectile speed and diameter. The speed should be increased while the diameter should be decreased. In that way it would be an efficient poke, while having a little bit more difficulty, because most of the time it's really really easy to dodge anivia's Q.

W: Crytallize This spell is kinda "meh". It's very simple, and very dumb. Should be changed in some way. Any way.

E: FrostBite This is a spell with much potential, and i really like it as it is.

R: Glacial Storm Okay, this is strongly my own opinion since i don't like damage over time effects at all. This spell would be better in a way if it could deal more damage in less time.

Solutions:

(Note: in this section there will always be only examples that just popped out of my brain.)

Passive: Example: When anivia takes fatal damage, she transforms into an egg. The egg takes 50% less damage from all sources, and after 6 seconds, it transforms back into Anivia, slowing nearby enemies and dealing magic damage to them. If the egg dies, the effect is not triggered.

W: Example: Anivia creates a wall of ice which block projectiles. The wall in total can block 1/2/3/4/5 projectiles, and after blocking the blockable amount of projectiles, it gets destroyed instantly. If it doesnt get destroyed, it disappears after 5 seconds. For every blocked projectile, the wall sends back a shard of ice, damaging and slowing enemies in it's way.

R: Example: Anivia creates an icy storm, reducing the sight of all enemies that are caught in it and additionally slowing and dealing damage over time. The storm lasts for 4 seconds, and if an enemy stays in it for the full lenght, it takes additional magic damage and gets stunned.

These are my ideas about Anivia, the cryophoenix. Remember, you don't have to agree. Upvote if you like it. ^^ I'll be back soon with the next champion, Ashe Ashe, the frost archer.

Best of luck in the fields of justice!

My thoughts as an anivia main:

Passive: holy shit that's OP as fuck.

Q: Fast but thin? I don't actually like that. I've gotten 5 man stuns before, it's fine as is. you just have to get used to it. It being slow actually enables some plays that would otherwise be impossible.

W: Please, don't do this. Please, please please please please no. If you think the wall is simple, you haven't used it enough. If yo uthink it's boring, you haven't used her combos correctly. Only thing i would be interested to see happen to this, EVER, is to make it prevent dashes from going over it. And even this only if mobility creep becomes even more pronounced, it's not needed right now.

R: I don't really like a couple things about this. It removes anivia's perma wave clear, it probably makes her ult have a much longer cooldown, and (i assume) it gets rid of the attack speed debuff. The last one is the dealbreaker; a stun on her ult would be crazy strong.

To be perfectly honest, anivia doesn't need any changes at all. She's one of the stronger mid laners out there right now. Played properly she has no trouble against anyone but a well played AhriFizz Jayce Syndra Xerath

Fizz+Ahri are fairly common, and Xerath has made a strong comeback. I'll also throw in Malzahar , but that's more of a skill vs skill thing and whoever's better at said champ will win.

The Q is super easy to dodge unless the enemies right on top of you/being CC'd for you/unaware its coming. This change makes sense IMO. Having also stunned a whole team its not common for me or anyone I've seen play Anivia.

The way W works with the current R+E combo is undeniably scary and I think as is they're ok. As is the passive.

P.S. We did an Ashe one already. Check it out!

That's the whole thing though; have you ever looked at the damage on this skill? It's 360+1.0 AP in total, which is absolutely HUGE for a basic ability, both in base and scaling. If you made it easy to land it would be too op. It's very possible to land one in a 1v1 scenario even as is, as long as you use either your W, R, fog of war, or time it with when they're going for a last hit.

Yeah stunning a whole team isn't common, but it's possible right now. I wouldn't want to see it go away...

This says it all. The damage is nice if it hits. The likelihood of this hitting is almost as high as getting hit with a Nunu ult, but easier to avoid.

Yeah, I don't agree with that statement, but i guess we can agree to disagree. I'll just say that I land them typically 2-3 times in a pre-6 lane phase against a ranged champ, much more against melees.

GalacticBears1 votes

2-3 times is acceptable? Considering a pre-6 akali can half you in 2 hits?

Yes. A pre 6 akali is NEVER going to hit me with anything but q unless im baiting her. 2 qs forces you out of lane (q+e puts you to 1/2 hp, you pot, q+e again puts you at ~100-200), 3 qs kills you.

Say Q hit's She bubbles...then?

She took 1/4 her hp and used a ton of energy for free. i back off, aa her the next time she shows herself like i have been all lane phase. Assuming she managed to use her bubble before being stunned/ i follow up with e. most of the time i throw the e while q is still en route, which means she doesnt really have a chance to do what you described. Akali is actually a really really easy lane for anivia

edit: to be a little more accurate, i do back off for the duration of her shadow so she doesnt get a sneaky q+e/ q aa combo on me

Backing off effectively takes you out of the fight. Ending the engagement starting a new one. Starting a new one essentially resets her skills putting you in almost the same boat except your easily dodged skill is now "feared" making it less likely to hit.

To be perfectly honest, anivia doesn't need any changes at all. She's one of the stronger mid laners out there right now.

I personally suspect that she's going to be one of the champions most hurt by the reduction of blue buff to 2 minutes from 2:30. So, I don't think it's implausible that she'll be in need of buffs in the very near future.

That said, I agree that she's not weak enough to warrant any but the slightest of buffs at this exact moment.

quite possibly, i have a pbe account and that IS pretty painful. What's even worse is the change to athene's- dont get me wrong i dont usually buy it anyway, but this change made it not capable of providing sufficient mana on its own to even be an option. roa+seraphs only option

Maybe they'll account for that in the upcoming regen overhaul? IE: give our Birdy really good base Mp5 to scale with items?

As an Anivia Freelo abuser:

Passive: OP as fuck.

Q: It's easy to dodge because it is so rewarding to land. Don't turn this into Nidalee spears in an effort to make the champion easier.

W: No. Just No. We don't need another windwall in this game, and frankly her W is beautiful as is. Try actually using this ability and mastering it before saying it's Boring and dumb. It takes alot of skill and knowledge to use, and when used correctly can decide teamfights.

E: As you said, It's good as is.

R: Broken as shit with Q. Nope, not even k. Not to mention you just gutted her wave clear and zone control all in the name of "screw DoT abilities". Seriously, DoT's are more fair than having all the damage at once, as you might survive due to shields or heals.

Overall: It's like you didn't really think about how the kit was put together, and instead just asked yourself, "How can I make each individual piece of this kit better in my own opinion?" Take this as a lesson; Some kits are good because they synergize with themselves so beautifully. Try looking at the kit as a whole, and figuring out the scenarios where the whole kit works together, and where it breaks apart. Then ask yourself "How can I make this better?"

Not to nit pick, but aren't you like bronze II? ... And you don't even play Anivia in ranked, so how can you really criticize any of her kit?

I agree with the actual Anivia players who have posted. She might not be the very best LCS/High ELO mid laner, but her kit is put together with a ton of thought. Her Q is rewarding and her Ulti is almost as iconic as her wall and egg. Don't try to make her like the other champions because diversity is much more appreciated.

Also, OP: Your count-arguments aren't productive. You're just spouting off little retorts that seem like they work in your favor. If you want an actual discussion, put some thought into your responses.

Look, Dryjuice. When i wrote those responses, it was 2:00 Am here where i live, and i was tired as hell. I'm sorry if i didn't watch out for most of my replies. Idon't want to nit pick either, but this is a forum for crying out loud. Arguments and discussions move every single thing in the boards forward. I agree, i'm usually a nitpicking, annoying guy, so that's why i probably won't respond anymore.

Ps.: Thank you anivia mains for the feedback! (or whatever basis you play Anivia on) Since i don't play the champion often, i don't know any tips and tricks about her and that might lead to misunderstandings.

However, to all of you. These are my own ideas, i'm not working at riot, and these changes won't even come close to being in the game.

See you soon!
