I miss old Malzahar.

I miss old Malz. I miss the premiere lockdown mage of League.

The MYMU tried to play up Malzahar's minion-mancing. To it's credit, it's a cool idea, a stupid one, especially since at the time Yorick (the minion-mancer of the game) was soon for his rework, but still kinda cool.

Except in doing so they ruined him. Old Malzahar was kind of DoT-based and kind of AoE-based, but above all was about locking down someone and holding them still, possibly killing them if you were good with your skill placement and timing. Positioning was actually important because he wasnt that asshole kid in the playground who always used his "anti-everything shield" to win fights. Laning was actually a matter of managing mana costs and regain with E along with trying to put your harass onto the enemy laner, now you can free farm because if the enemy laner dares go near you, you just pop E on them, summon a Voidling, and laugh as they desperately run under tower to escape.

And then you buy Rylais.

I'm just one person, but god do I miss the old Malzahar.

Riot reverted Kog'Maw, perhaps we can get lucky and see him return to his former identity.

This is more or less how the lead up to the Malz rework went.

Malz Players: "Hey, don't change Malz' passive. Changing the Voidlings will just piss off AD Malz players. And forcing AP Malz to utilize them will just piss off AP Malz players."

Rito: "I've got an idea! Let's do exactly what Malz' player-base told us not to do!"

Malz Players: "God damn it, Rito."

i just hate that they moved his W to his R. I just loved putting it below the tower when pushing and spam in chat IMMA SUCK YOUR TOWERS

I miss stacking 3 BTs on Cait and charging them up to +110 damage in Season 3. Those were the days, man.

It just reminded me about how much I hate the new one.

I personally don't, only because I hated how powerful his Pool+R combo actually was because it combined the power of two different abilities while now it's one ability and considerably weaker.

Though I will admit he does feel weak now. I tried him out and (granted I don't play mages) and I couldn't land his damn Q at all and his ult didn't feel very impactful (course I was behind).

Also, did you know that if you constantly hit Malz, the cooldown on his passive resets? Cause I didn't and it sure felt like it.

Yeah, his passive works like that.

It's not about how strong he is gameplay wise or even about game health, I just much preferred the old Malzahar in terms of how he felt and who he was. Old Malz was a lockdown mage who punished poor positioning, with a bit of AoE and a bit of DoT to help him do things. New Malz is a minionmancer/DoT mage/AoE mage/CC mage/Spellshield asshole. Too much about him is in his Voidlings.

He's not exactly weak though, Malzahar support is super strong in case you missed it.

It's why I bought Malz, to try it. Got mid instead.

i invented malz supp since his rework and yes it does work. But i wish they would undo skarner weak spire rework, its stupid and much weaker thne it was before i can go into detail but why. Yes dot malz was pretty good since if you had rylais and liandrys you can melt people with your e and ult.
