@Meddler An Evolution to Sightstones

I'm thinking that Sightstones could use some love, considering the potency of the warding totem's upgrade. The fact that they 'only' give health makes it a bad pick statwise for many champions who need much more to reach efficiency. I'm proposing to bring enchants as replacements to the Ruby Sightstone, something still weak enough that it can belong on a support without breaking the game, while making it a potential buy for less aggressive or behind junglers, for instance.

My suggestions;

Enchant 1; 200 health, 35 AD, 20 AS, for AD supp picks or AD junglers Enchant 2; 200 health, 25-50 AP, 50% mana regen per 5, for AP supports Enchant 3; 300-400 health, 15 armor, 15 MR, 50% hp regen per 5, for tank supports

These would of course be priced accordingly.

There doesn't need to be a support item for ADs ever.

I've seen this idea suggested so many times, I'd be happy just to get a single alternate upgrade that has mana instead of health.

What is problematic about this solution(IMO) is that it further reduces the support's role in the bottom lane to even more stat races(which duo can out poke/sustain/kill the other faster) drawing away from the relationship between adc and support, instead I would propose a number of different unique passives that enhance your ability to ward and reward to a certain extent.

Really, as far as i'm concerned they should just delete the Sightstone from the game and push the job on everyone even more, however since that's clearly not gonna happen... I have to say you make a good point, however wouldn't that make the upgraded sightstone just another trinket but one you have to pay for?

I'm not sure what you mean by 'relationship between adc and support'. My idea of the bot lane is two people working together to get one of the two as fed as possible, and if that means butchering the opposition, then so be it, and I'll get the items to do it.

It's how I've always played, and also why i hate 'pure support' items. I calculate the utility behind an Athene's or a Mikael's, and I think, how many heals/CC will have been made more potent, more possibly life-saving by the Athene's AP, and how does a Mikael's compare? I like playing Sona and taking a Zed down to 1/3 of his life in a full hit, then press W and heal for 400, then press E and fly away at ridiculous speeds. In my mind, that's what supports can do, should do. The Sightstone is only in the way.

What I mean by relationship is that the two laners are in the same lane doing two different jobs at the same time for a common goal, as you stated, get the adc fed, but getting the adc fed involves getting kills when possible but ultimately boils down to ensuring their safety thereby maximizing their cs while minimizing their vulnerability, yes you can take advantage of the enemies mistakes but they're doing the exact same thing on their end(if they're good) so a kill lane can be killed and it takes an intelligent thoughtful approach to the lane to constantly balance the cost benefit analysis of cs versus poke vs cc vs jungle ganks vs vision etc. all in all I'm trying to say that since the bottom lane has the most fragile laning process that can be tipped over and snowballed easily it is inherently more important to grant and deny vision in the jungle and river on your side of the map because an engage on the carry can be much more catastrophic for the game overall than an engage on any other member of the team. Don't even get me started on dragon control and counter jungling. Since there's such a ward reliance in the lane and the adc should(for the most part) be concerned with itemization in the pursuit of damage and the fact that sufficient wardage can get pricey after 15-20 minutes(keeping support from getting tank poke or utility early as otherwise) leads to the necessity of the sightstone. I do agree that it's the whole teams job to ward but I think getting rid of sightstone would turn wards into a niche item of sorts that are situationally useful but will also cripple your gold ergo build if they aren't used to capitalize on advantages which is the exact opposite direction I want this game to go, make warding expensive and inconvenient, newbs will ignore wards and the gap between low and high elo becomes even larger(soon to be uncrossable) instead make warding flashy and cool and you'll see new players and old players(who suck cause they don't ward) start warding earlier more frequently and more effectively keeping this dimension of the game effectual and maybe even make it popular(please please please) branching it out into even more dimensions.

I think there are some issues.

It would make Sightstone a very good pick on non-supports. The numbers may be small, but you'll start seeing more junglers with it, and more roaming mid laners with it, so on, and it'll become a boring thing that almost everyone builds.

I would try to find a way to make Sightstone combine with the three support items, but it'd be difficult without sacrificing their existing actives.
