Is Cassiopeia a top laner now?

Just picked Cass Cassiopeia up recently and would like some advice on how to play her. I never played her before the rework so I don't know anything about how she was before. It just seems that with the stacking passive it would be best to take her top lane so you can work on those stacks without much interruption for the first 20 minutes or so. Is that how she should be played right now?

lolol with no escapes and slow move speed? sure you can go toplane, you'll give the enemy team a nice supply of snake jerky

She is much better at toplane where she can safely farm under turret like nasus once she gets pushed in.

Top lane is flexible enough that literally anyone can go there. The matchup will be something you need to watch closely, but a favorable one will come along eventually.

No escapes High mana costs Not a frontliner

Not a good top

She can be played top or mid. Top is fine as long as you don't get caught, same as anyone else.

Current Cassio cannot top, jung, mid, supp, and even less adc. There is no reason to pick her. She still needs more work overall.

Yeah ,yeah she is hard champion and people just suck with her cause they are used to play easier champs like kata, akali and fizz.I am am old cassi main and the rework has only 2 problems, insane mana costs and shitty early. Both will be fixed in the next patch. Even live though you become a terror in mid game and a god in late.People cry about her being uselless cause they played her wrong before rework. They were maxing q and poking from safe distance while she was always about her e.And trust me it's not her mechanics that make cassi so difficult to play her but the right desicion making.Do i push?Do i poke?Do i do a false engage to lure the enemy in trade?Do i win this trade?Cassi demands practice and deep game knowledge and she is unforgiving if you fail.If you have mastered her she dominates almost anyone(only syndra and Xerath have a real advatage against her).I am platinum and i kick ass with her especially against assasins like fizz, zed and lb that everyone cries that she cant do shit against them.

Hope you're right with the update, ill have an open mind about her 'new' gameplay (still one of the old paths, but with a twist - ok, let's see it). But im still skeptical about that they did not added a new mechanic to the kit (i wouldn't care of difficulty, im game). Played old Cass, loved her, bought her, with skins and all.

The ''new'' gameplay isnt new at all mate. It's her old gameplay but emphasized.I know that feels new if you are used to play her as poking champ. The only thing that they missed is the power mark.Cassi was desinged by Brackhar as faster dps version of anivia (also his creation) that would feel like a mage superscalling adc. However people felt comfortable with her q(and for a reason, amazing damage+safe distance) and played her like a dps poke instead of ap adc.Honestly i understand them, playing her as an adc is 10 times more difficult than to play her as poking champ so they feel weak and useless but she is really strong. As a fellow old cassi player i hope you stick with her cause she is so worth it.Also a small piece of advice if you want, go to lane with 21/9 masteries and magic pen/health/(mr or armor) runes and take ap only in quintessences. Also against assasins take exhaust instead of ingite.I wish you luck.

Top is a situational pick. It is almost always a safer pick to go Middle Lane.

Play her at toplane, if you go mid the chances that u feed up an assassin is likely so don't even bother. Take exhaust and go top, with exhaust you can protect yourself really nicely (she doesn't need ignite at all).

Grab a doran 2 pots, tear, Wota cores then decide what you need.

Cassiopeia lacks the ability to escape from unfavorable fights, so she is easily ganked or bullied out of lane by champions with strong engagement potential. You could play her top against fairly low-mobility champions, so long as you play safe and maintain enough vision to not be caught out by the jungler.

I have played her in mid lane and as a support in bot lane. Both positions are challenging, but they gain a little safety by having either a nearby jungler or a lane partner. She may do well in a duo lane as a replacement for a traditional ADC on an otherwise AD-heavy team, since she has many of the weaknesses that supports are designed to compensate for. I have not tried this or seen it done, but a number of people have brought it up in these forums before.
