So, Brand, Viktor, or Ahri.... or should I save for a 6300?

And if you say Ahri, PLEASE explain why she is great... I've always had an easy time destroying her in midlaning... I rarely see her play well at all.

And if you go for 6300, I want a good description and I am looking for a very solid mage.

Viktor is really powerful right now.

Kind of personal thing isn't it? Viktor is really strong but is getting nerfed. Brand has huge team fight ability, nice cc, and is good at melting tanks, but he's so immobile and can't really deal with more than one pursuer at a time. Ahri is safer than the other two due to her mobility but unless you can reliably land her charm she sucks (as you have noticed playing against her). Ahri is also more of an assassin than a true mage so if you are looking for a mage she really isn't a good choice.

You are only level 16, players aren't that experienced in the game at that level. Also which champs do you play against her? Some do well in the match up.

Anyways, she's great because she's pretty safe to play, has decent damage potential, is a good roamer post six for helping other lanes win, and once you get ludens and rylai's on her you can give the other side fits with your mobility.

I generally like to play morgana and lux midlane... The fact that they have powerful roots and spammable roots is probably why they do well against her.

She probably would do well against melee types because she CAN kite, but its uncommon for a mid to be melee...

Also, Ahri doesn't nearly have the lane clear ability that say morgana or lux has

Her laning presence isn't really her strength. With waveclear and sustain, Ahri can farm and trade fine, but she doesn't have much kill pressure unless your opponent screws up. Ahri spikes midgame after she gets her ult and a damage item. Her roam is strong, her picks are strong, she can push a tower safely. Her burst is lower than other midlaners, but that doesn't matter in a duel when other squishies also build damage and they all become able to burst each other.

Okay, if Morgana can hit her snare, Ahri is in trouble. Tormented soil is a pretty good follow up and can clear. Lux's wave clear costs a lot of mana, but she's got that root+damage spell combo. Ahri's got mobility, but she's squishy so CC is a weakness.

As for ahri she can wave clear with her Q, but you have to know how to soften up the minions first, you can't just throw a single orb out and kill six creeps without a lot of AP.

ok that makes sense, I think ahri might be better in draft pick simply because she DOES have solid counters that arent out of place midlane

Ahri is well rounded and is a safe bet to learn and get good with.

Brand and Viktor are both alright, but require a bit more to pull off.

I think a good one that perhaps people would overlook would be Malzahar. His waveclear can rival the infamous Heimerdinger if he puts in the effort. He is one of the few last midlaners with a silence, and while people may not like his ult because " lol self supression", it's still very deadly. Sitting on a voidling, then unleashing QEW+R is practically lethal.

Not exactly freelo but I found him satisfying to play at the very least.

Then when you become a challenger tier Malzahar, you can bust out the AD Malz jungle. Requires a lot of knowledge and proper runes, but it's hilariously cheesey

viktor is hard to play and is iffy his ult has plenty counter plays and its hard to make it stick without stun brand is mana hungry and haas hit box issues because he's a bit OP and know one knows this since they play him wrong

ahri is the stage whore and no one with a sence of decorum plays her

Viktor or Azir - both are very strong.
