A little QoL change for Supports

Hey,

there is something that bothers me as a sup main. So we all know Kalista's passive right? I'm not talking about her hopping passive, I'm talking about her item 3599 Black Spear, which let her bind an ally to herself as an Oathsworn. During the binding the target is unable to move, since it will play a nice little animation. So far, so good. But what bothers me is, if you just left the founatin at the beginning of the game and than Kalista uses her Black Spear on you. Like I said: During the binding you are unable to move, but your "Homeguard"-buff (not the one you get after 20 min, I'm talking about the one that gives you extra movementspeed at the beginning of the game...don't know the name tho) will count down, once you set foot out of the fountain...so you end up loosing the extra movementspeed during the binding. Since you can't really control, when your adc will use his Black Spear on you, I would suggest that your "At-the-beginning-of-the-game-homeguard"-buff will go on pause during the binding, so you can get as fast to the jungle/lane as everyone else.

Or just don't lock the target into a "death" animation. Seriously, I know it's thematically cool, but gameplay-wise it's a gigantic pain in the ass.

I myself like this "death & revive" -animation, since (like you said) it's a nice little touch thematically. But I agree that it can lead to some problematic scenarios for the target of the binding (aka being stuck in the animation defenseless, while the enemy team invades your jungle). A good compromise could be that the target could choose between animation or no animation, simply by giving a command during the process of the binding (if you give an attack- or movement-command, you will interrupt the animation, but not the binding itself (!), otherwise the animation will play as normal).

(This would also solve my problem with the homeguard-buff, but I thought that simply putting the buff on pause for the duration could be easier implemented into the game.)

I can't say as to which would be easier to implement into Riot's spaghetti code.

Maybe (to simplify further), have any movement or attack command cancel the animation, like the dance/taunt/joke/laugh animations?

Technically the /emotes are no movement or attack commands, so I'm not sure about this (and I like to laugh before dieing to Kalistas Black Spear or taunt as Morgana: "You too will be judged!" :S ). But I think the recall should interrupt it, if it doesn't already.

The "homeguard" effect at the beginning is called Homestart.

Ahhh! Good to know, thanks :)

wait I thought if you, the support, doesn't click in the black spear, the animation and binding won't start?

No one, besides from Kalista, has control over the Black Spear. She activates the item, clicks on an ally, the animation starts and the target gets bound to her.

Oh I usually just see the Maoists throw a spear on the ground and nothing happens until I click it.

After Kalista clicks on an ally, she has a short channel, before the death animation starts. Maybe this is where your confusion comes from?
