Poll: Do Summoners like this Bursty, Coin-flip Meta?

Dear Fellow Summoners,

The new Runes system is giving us a taste of what League can become if we let these changes settle: Thinner champs die in a moment's notice, and even small mistakes in positioning can go a long way in terms of turning a game around; even more so than ever before.

Because of how much damage is getting dealt, and how easily your advantage can be lost, the game has become what I would call a fiesta: fights are becoming more important and we are seeing them more often. Suddenly, all your hard work to get yourself and your team ahead can be lost in the blink of an eye!

I want to see how other players feel about this, and am inviting comments and an answer to the poll for Riot to see and hear from us.

Feel free to reply below.

-B.

I completely agree with this. However, it's nothing new, league has been moving in this direction ever since season 6 when they first implemented the keystones into masteries. Providing more damage with thunderlords or fervor to damage oriented champions. Riot has reduced turret tankiness and damage, removed catchup xp, along with other patches that have increasingly made it more difficult to stay in the game once the enemy gets a kill. This also was not done unintentionally for balance, Riot stated awhile back that they wanted to move towards faster games. Thus they have, games used to last 40-50 mins back in season 5 on averages, along with tank fests and actual strategy. Now most games last 20-35 mins and team comps revolve around pure burst and damage. Fights are no longer strategic, the only thing that matters in them is who steps out of line first and gets bursted, or who gets the right ult off. This is all in my opinion, Riot's way of appealing to a vaster crowd. They want to make their game faster paced to try and appeal to the larger crowd of people that don't care for tank fights or long games.

nearly every rune tree has damage somewhere in it which is just plain unfortunate (aside from inspiration) , since there are no magic resist and armor runes in every page like we used to have you have tanks with aftershock wrecking squishies, I think the main problem is RIOT is not focusing on champ roles anymore, tanks deal crazy dmg, assassins deal crazy dmg, supports are able to become the primary mage on the team (karma, morg, sona, etc.) lately we have been seeing ezreal jungle... adcs dont take as long to scale like they used to. They are pushing for faster games which defeats the point of different phases of the game. late game is now considered like 15min. now based on the early surrenders ive been seeing. The current runes are specifically favored toward some champs, it does not promote play style. In a competitive game people care only about maximizing their dmg or role. Inspiration tree is the only tree that is directed toward utility that effects playstyle. Where as the precision tree is directed toward adcs and melee auto attackers, where as people like Jhin dont really get a decent choice...hes usually in sorcery tree.

Season 5 was great, playing Sion back then was priceless.

I wish more of the old tank shit carried over, i don't like the lower stats.

The bigger issue is how tanks can do all that "tons of damage" while going full tank build and remain unkillable.

Just wait until Zoe comes out...

Back on topic tho, I don't like it. Especially from the stand point of tower defense. Basically whoever leaves lane first loses tower unless jungle or someone covers lane for you. If tower isn't gone when you get back, it will have like 1/4 hp.

The fact burst ADC's are strong right now tells enough. When a burst ADC is always preferred over AA based champs, you know the damage has become cancer. I've been seeing Jhin's chunk tanks with armor....it's just insane. Even the jungle assassins and AD mid's are super strong.

Tank stats are pointless boys and gals. Stack HP and CC and win games.

I like the increased fighting, yet I dislike how the damage is not very well-spread out. Basically it's bot lane vs everyone else. With the rest of the laners there to make sure bot lane gets ahead and then baby-sitting them during team fights.

I like the new meta and runes. There is so much more things you can do and little add on's to abilities that give you multiple ways to handle a scenario. Also the heavy stat stuff is still there. Alot of it is the after 10 minute stuff, or the stuff that stacks over time. This does make the pre-10 minute game completely different because no one has their increased based stats (from old runes). But there is so much more play and counter-play, and you have to be able to read the situation and know what is up. I do agree maybe it's not perfect, but I do like it better than the old system. Also it is only pre-season. They have plenty of time to make alteration and changes to runes and champion stats and things.

I also believe that these new changes are detrimental to the game.

We will see less skill and teamwork in this type of meta.
