Killing the game and ignoring their community. I remember reading something about the rise and fall of empires and how every empire had similar errors and downfalls, it is in human nature, I think something similar exists for games and gaming companies that grow popular.

The initial success makes them think that they're the visionaries and because "not listening" worked for the initial success, they start to think it's always the right thing.

WoW is dead....i think not with it's large player pool and the influx of new players. Many are patiently waiting for Legion....
Overwatch....you can't compare LoL to WoW or Overwatch.
League is a Moba, WoW is an mmorpg, and Overwatch is an fps....those are 3 different types of games.
You want to compare League to a Blizzard game....then try Heroes of the Storm. That is a Moba that can be compared with league.

Yes, I do. The team that made World of Warcraft great, including Jeff Kaplan, works on the lead design for Overwatch. Overwatch is doing everything good so far, lets hope they keep it that way.

It was the lore that interested us in the game. It was the gameplay that made us stay. It was the actual skill-based rank system that made us good.
Now? We have no lore to interest us in the game. We have none of the gameplay that made us stay. We have a casual 'ranked' mode that reflects nothing about your ability.

I guess that 10,000 word story piece they posted a couple of days ago, twinned with the whole Shurima minisite, doesn't count as lore? Or the Targon update before it? Or the Burning Tides/Shadow and Fortune events in Bilgewater?
There's still a lot of work to do when it comes to making sense of the world in a post-retcon continuity, but Riot has actually put out quite a bit of lore content in the last year or so. The "League has no lore" claim has been grossly untrue for a long time.
A Miss Fortune10 votesAm I the only one that feels like reading lore isn't even fun anymore? I personally love lore in almost every game genre, though with League becoming less fun and more stale I've found it extremely difficult to want to read lore.
During the Bilgewater Event when League was considerably better I remember just counting down the time until a new story piece was released. Now even with multiple stories for Targon and Shurima being released relatively close, I kind of just lost all interest with League's decline.

Gosh Darn3 votesI like the Runescape analogy. I imagine Riot will bring back solo queue after they lose half of the player base like Jagex did when they added Evolution of Combat and then added old school runescape.
Problem is that it will be too late. They will go through all the effort of making the changes, then reverting them, and it will accomplish literally nothing except fragmenting and weakening the playerbase.
