Does anyone ever -actually- do 1v1's?

I see people joke about this all the time, and how the common consensus is that 'team game not solo' etc etc, but I think the 1v1 mechanics in early laning for mid and top is really important in deciding the flow of the game.

There used to be a game mode dedicated to this. I remember when I was learning mechanics of certain champions, I would actually take up peoples' challenge of 'u suk 1v1 me skrub' by the enemy, and would make a custom and do it. Or I'd do 1v1's with my friends sometimes.

I feel like it actually helped me a lot with my mechanics, and it also made me pay much closer attention than I normally would in games, and felt a lot more pressure from it - it helped me perform better in regular games.

Does anyone else ever take up the challenge, or is it just a common joke to lol'ers?

Oh, they do, but not in customs unfortunately. I'll tell you it is really hard trying to win a game when one of your teammates is responding to a "1v1 me at baron" challenge. Last game I was in there was a Jax who kept trying to 1v1 the enemy Nasus despite getting gangbanged every time he announced his location in chat. It was horrific.

One time I was trying to fix my client so I did 1v1's with people for like, 3 days (nothing else) to confirm that I had fixed everything. It was actually a lot of fun and I 1v1'd a master player at one point, I learned a lot from it. Pretty much everyone wanted to play Lee Sin/Syndra though but it was still fun

the Sion 1v1 was by far the most fun :^)

I play 1v1 with my friends sometimes, but when I am winning with a big lead in game, they get angry and leave. (because I play something OP just for fun xD or I counterpick them because I can read their minds.)

Also, people telling you to go 1v1 with them because you are "noob" are usually newbies, or not good players. So I usually take the challenge. I have onetrick TF for 1v1 against those people. I win like everytime, because TF is very versatile. You can go AD, AP, hybrid because it doesn't matter how you play in SR or what works in SR. In 1v1 all that matter is that you can adapt to your enemy strategy, properly countering him. And I can do that with Tf easily. So, when they lose they are somehow respecting you and they are listening to you (they don't in game where they call you noob and wants to 1v1 you) so I take this opportunity to tell them how they could do better, why it's important to be polite to people in games, how to play certain champs. Ofc, there are always some just toxic players which will say "f* u" and 1v1 again. But some people are just mad because they have bad game and after we have some fun in 1v1 I want them to learn from their mistakes. When I was newbie I needed this, too.
