Instead of nerfing tp..

How about we buff towers a lil bit so that way we can Base or die without having to worry about losing the tower right away? [sg-lux-2]

They already said they refuse to make towers tankier.

remakoro38 votes

Why?

Kaìju31 votes

Said it makes games too long. They don't like 35 to 45 minute games on average because it makes live games in LCS hard on the crowd. Say you have 45 minute games on average. After every game is a 15 minute break. Say the games are even so you get all 5 games. What is that, like 4 hours for one overall match? That's killer on the crowd. I've been there and seen it happen, and while it can be fun I understand that it does get tedious as I look at my phone asking when it's gonna be over because it started at like 7 or 8 and it's now 2 or 3 in the morning.

...And people still try to defend Riot and say the game isn't balanced around pro play.

GayFluffyUnicorn7 votes

Because riot tries to somehow make it work that bad players don't feel too bad and pro play also works. Also the crossover trying to make soloQ more like pro play boom you have this garbage gameplay where everything seems unfitting and shit.

So they went with quantity over quality? Whats the point in crowd watching 5 games if they didnt enjoy even 1 of them? Ive seen some LCS games that went really close to 1 hour. And towers had nothing to do with it.

Always funny seeing a fortnite streamer have more views then an entire tournament these days.

Pretty sure its because easy to digest gameplay paired with watered down personalities attracts more children who can watch in their PJs than a live tournament with grown ass out-of-touch men (minus a few people) casting it.

Why don’t they just do best of 3 instead of 5

That's why this game is going to hell. Everything revolves around LCS. Us, mortals who play the game for fun are destined to: -Play the game and be constantly frustrated -Quit the game and play something else Riot Games are on their money making spree from LCS and they won't stop it since that gives them insane profit.

Chromatic Eagle1 votes

Haven't they said that they don't make that much money from LCS? That they instead spend more money?

IDEMO NA MUDA1 votes

Would you expect riot not to defend themselves? Just use your brain, gather facts and you'll realize their quite obvious way of updating the game.

Maybe if there's 30 minute downtimes including before the scheduled match time a game series could take 7 hours... if we run even at 45 minute average time that's adding up to 6.25 hours. Typically breaktime is 10-20 minutes when things are running smoothly, so more like 4.5-5.4 hours. And typically game length will vary and most series don't go to 5. If 5 different hour long games happen in a meta that has 35-40 average game length, those teams would make 5 different 50 minute games happen in a meta like the one we have (those games still happen). That easily stacks up to 4.2 hours without even including break times... and its a result of passive teams using passive tactics to avoid feeding in their ridiculous snowball metas. The more dangerous 1 death becomes, the more likely there are to be more teams that'll pick every passive option possible to extend the game for safety.

Korea converted to best of 3s anyway, every other region is playing best of 1s. Best of 5s is now becoming a whole day event for specific tourneys, and if you're buying a ticket to a series I think 4 hours is a reasonable expectation if that's literally your full day of games. Games of Football, Soccer, and Baseball go on for hours for a best of 1 and in League games have a much higher variance in time so it being sometimes shorter and sometimes longer makes sense. Hell, if I plan on doing a bunch of Ranked or sitting down for a game night like D&D or want to watch LCS 4 hours is a reasonable commitment. If they don't have that time why are they traveling to see a live showing and buying expensive tickets for a variable timeslot? The reasoning doesn't add up.

The crowd definitely enjoys the current gameplay as witnessed by 30k twitch viewers nowadays compared to 300-500k two seasons ago.

KoKoboto1 votes

Did they play as many games in the past? I feel like they played less games in the past... Like it was Saturdays for NALCS and Sundays for EULCS and that was it in a week. Now they play a ton of games.

GayFluffyUnicorn2 votes

They did even play more afaik. I'm not too much into current pro play but i think its less games now since they got rid of best of threes during regular splits they are all KO games in that sense.

I guess you have more "clubs" now? Rift Rivals is kinda new but we lost IEM.

I wish they'd just have different patches for pro-play so we could enjoy the game.

Beacon Academy14 votes

There has been a low amount of views for pro play this season.

There was an exception though... Guess what that was?

It was the Jin Air vs SKT game that lasted around 94 minutes.

The viewer count just kept going up and up the longer the game lasted.

Why? Because nobody knew who was going to win and they wanted to witness the outcome.

Why would one want to go to a live event to watch a couple games when they know the game's outcome will be blatantly obvious by whichever side stomps the other during the 10-20 minute mark.

And if teams want to avoid the stomp, they have no action games for 40 minutes due to all the punishment causing risk and play making to not be worth it.

That sounds boring/unexciting to me.

Let's compare this to wrestling because I wrestled for 14 years and then coached a bit.

I've been there and seen it happen, and while it can be fun I understand that it does get tedious as I look at my phone asking when it's gonna be over because it started at like 8 or 9 AM and it's now 11 at night.

That sounds pretty absurd, doesn't it? Their changes recently would be the equivalent of changing tech fall (match ends due to point lead) from 15 to 10 and pins from shoulder blades flat on the mat for a full second to the instant they both touch. Nobody watches wrestling to see a pin in the first period every match. They watch to see someone win in a last second take down in overtime or to see the person who is losing by 13 points turn the match around and win with a pin after throwing their opponent.

Why does it make sense to balance around the LCS? That's like 0.001% of the playerbase, if that.

Teleport is being nerf for it’s additive global pressure, not because it gets you back to lane faster.

This is why the cooldown refund is removed.

3TWarrior12 votes

TP has been nerfed many, many times in the past for exactly the same reason

what did they do, they made the reason worse so now they have to nerf it more

players wouldn't even mind towers being weak if they could actually defend themselves underneath of them

Snowman Arc7 votes

It's not why they are nerfing TP. They do it because everyone takes it now, so that they can have maximum lane presence. Honestly, I'm ok with how TP is right now, getting it to 6 minutes CD might just make it so that no one takes it anymore. Why had TP over Ignite, for example?

Automated Riven5 votes

Why do you think everyone takes it? It's to dangerous to die and not be able to get back to lane.

My Waifu Vanilla2 votes

Except that isn't why it was started to be taken in pro. Ezreal first started taking it because it meant he could back literally whenever he wanted and come back on a power spike while you were basically forced to stay in lane since leaving meant you were losing at least 1 wave and the longer he kept you there the more klepto procs he was getting and more tear stacks he had over you simply having some long swords or whatever on your suboptimal back. It's the same reason "nonconventional" bot laners are taking it. If I can just shove and take a garbage trade on Irelia or whatever, as long as I DON'T die all of my damage sticks to you while I go full heal, and tp back with a sheen or tiamat or whatever while you have a puny doran's blade and half health.

SoarinJC1 votes

Sure, that wasn't why they started taking it, but at this point with all of the funneling strategies, that's why it's stayed. It's simply too risky to die in lane and not be able to teleport back to defend your tower when you have no jungle presence that can help to defend it, and losing it means losing vital early pressure and farming area for your hyper carry. Also, even with all of the non-funnel drafts, the constant kill lanes are impossible to survive against without the breather that tp offers, which means creating even faster games that are over by 10 minutes.

Snowman Arc1 votes

Sivir and Ezreal started taking it, dude, what are you even watching? Sivir wanted a free lane of perma shove, back to fill up mana, TP to lane, shove etc, so that she can get to her item spikes with zero interaction. Towers taking damage was a result of the perma shove that was a secondary goal. Buffing towers won't do anything in terms of making ADCs not take TP.

SoarinJC1 votes

Ahhhh typo, meant to say was not wasn’t

Snowman Arc1 votes

Another thread where people just bandwagon and have no idea what they're talking about. They hear about towers being weak, they hear about TP being taken in the bottom lane, suddenly, that's the reason why everyone takes TP. Clueless people, clueless boards.

TP was first taken by Ezreal around 2 months ago, because of early game execution-heavy comps that had to rely on outpacing the enemy and letting Ezreal hit his 2-item powerspike as soon as possible, while also exerting pressure on the enemy laners. Teleport does exactly that. Ezreal is a safe pick, won't die, except if he fucks up, so the need for a Heal isn't needed until later in the game where teamfights start happening. Even in small skirmishes early game, you are already stronger than most of the enemies, so Heal won't be needed anyway. TP is the superior choice.

Another thing is that with so much burst, if you are to die as Ezreal, it's because you are getting piled on with CC and probably tower dived, therefore the Heal won't do much anyway.

TP was then used more often, seeing how it was successful, even in the later stages in the game, where you could send your Ezreal - Lucian to splitpush and stil have baron pressure. It has nothing to do with towers being weak or pushing lanes and random shit that the OP said. But again, as I said, these boards are full of clueless bandwagoners who have zero idea why certain things happen.

Automated Riven2 votes

Mind explaining in this situation, what happened if ezreal takes tp and the opposing adc does not?

Because if your answer is that they lose a shit ton of tempo and first tower then I rest my case.

That being said, that is not why it's fairly popular to see 4-6 tp spells in solo que either.

Snowman Arc1 votes

Ezreal gets a lot of tempo, that's it. They get lane priority and generally dominate the lane and the pace of the game. Priority in the 2v2 and in the jungle + faster power spikes.

Frontline Fury5 votes

Gods forbid the game takes strategy and skill to win. No, Riot wants the triggerhappy adrenaline junkies to thrive, because it's more entertaining to watch on streams.

YambrinZ5 votes

Why dont they just have an LCS only version of the patches.

ChaddyFantome2 votes

{quoted}

Why dont they just have an LCS only version of the patches.

Riot insists people watch LCS and aspire to play it with the idea that the game they play is the same that the pros play, and that by playing ti they could one day aspire to be on the same stage. It's like they think the game will become like BasketBall or Football or something one day.

Personally i feel it's stupid, as a good chunk of bad design decisions in the game (such as nerfing high skill floor champions for being too good when played in pros) only exist because of pro play.

How about we remove teleport all together - I Have fantastic replacement called Portal which isnt a summoner spell

Imagine Portal between toplane and botlane which opens up once a while. Edges of a map layouts would get cut, players would have to walk in a symbol line (rng but you can see what will it be 1 min before it spawns) then autoattack something in a middle which would result them in crossing a portal

That way we decentrealize map since there would be more centers, midlane popularity might drop a bit (which is good its the most popular role) That way midlaners can no longer die teleport and somehow be ahead because duh teleport. Applies to toplane to. Teleport kinda turtles bad players

Balance notes however

  • 1 player can take portal at a time, unless there are tahm/kalista sheringans
  • Idealy first portal opens up when botlane has its ultimates ready (so not before level 6)
  • Teleport should still exist on Urf
  • It would ussualy take 3-4 seconds to perform a ritual which teleports you
  • Rituals can be interrupted with enemy CC-ing entering the path killing retaking
  • If Ritual is interrupted it ll be ready shortly after. I suggest 40 seconds
  • Where do you spawn? Between bushes in botlane (center), in a middle of toplane bush.. you ll know enemy ported from botlane reggardles

Anyway

In case anyone is confused by what I mean with Ritual is simple. Just walk a hearth/star/Poro/whatever shaped thingy then autoattacksomething which spawns in a middle which makes you cross a portal

Speed depends on the shape.. your ms etc, that godamn enemy not interrupting you

But what do I know whats healthy for league... I only have 30 k games and ahve been to chall multiple times

Good luck with ghostcrawler thinking of something like this

Keep in mind its kinda old. Riot already reworked crit (2/10 garbage rework tho) Riot already reduced tower gold, death timers and some stuff.. (not in a best way tho)

Riot changes a game for the sake of changing it you can see that every single suggestion I made there is strictly with a goal to improve a game You can give it a read if you want but its a long post
