Sometimes I miss Will of the Ancients

Even though Riot said not many mages could use it effectively, it was still very fun to take on a mid laner. What do you guys think? Should it make a comeback or be gone forever?

not coming back. spellvamp cant be balanced with the way champion kits currently work.

instead they went over to building sustain mechanics directly into champion kits for those mages who are supposed to have them.

And yet Death's Dance is currently still in the game. Because logic.

death dance is ok, because it applies to auto attacks and spells. meaning while the spellvamp effect is very minor, its still useful as a lifesteal item.

its basically still 15% lifesteal with some spellvamp sprinkled in. on ap champs you only have the little bit spellvamp and otherwise nothing, which makes it kinda useless, or way too much combined with the sustain in their kits.

and there arent ad champs with massive amounts of spellvamp in their kits to the point that a spellvamp item would break them, like it would beak vlad, swain, morgana etc.

It is still "Spell Vamp" for the AD Based character. As well as a damage reduction.

So. Tryndamere, Olaf, Kled, Wukong, Riven, really any AD Based champion with spells that deal physical damage can use it and use it to the point of abuse. Considering all of the support AD characters have been getting this season, I would argue that this is all the more cause for tweaking up viable builds for AP casters. As they promised, and have yet to deliver (referring to a second mid 20% CDR item teased by Riot).

And no, I don't count the Hextech items. Those are mediocre at best and usually only built on people who already have high mobility.

In short, while I respect your opinion, I disagree.

even for these champions, the spellvamp portion makes only a very very small part of the overall heals. aoe abilities still suffer from the 60% penalty on lifesteal.

its not really stronger for them then lets say a bloodthirster.

there are also no ad champs with kits like vladimir who already have spellvamp built in their kits to synergize with even more spellvamp from items, who could potentially break the thing.

The problem was how tough it was to balance. It wasn't that great for a lot of characters because the ones that did use it efficiently abused the crap out of it. You couldn't make it cheap enough or strong enough for most people to want to take without Mord or Vlad getting out of control.

Although I will fully admit that I do miss it on Cass.

I would love to have it back because I could do my favorite Spell Vamp Morgana build again. I honestly hated the choice to remove it just cause Vlad abused it instead of trying to fix it.

It's gone forever, and I dislike that fact. Immensely. Because Riot decided it should be gone forever. And to compensate it, they decided to buff certain champions to make up for their loss. Which they are currently nerfing slowly back into the ground. Because Riot sometimes does not feel like they know what they're doing, and this frustrates me.

I know they're TRYING, whenever they're not Buffing Lee Sin because LC$, but it inherently feels wrong in how they're going about things these days.

Bringing it back would mean another rework overhaul for Vlad.

So no.
