Its riots way of saying "We dont want Caitlyn to be able to hold onto her Headshot forever under your tower"

Its riots way of saying "We dont want Caitlyn to be able to hold onto her Headshot forever under your tower"

There are better ways to do that such as making her not charge Headshot stacks when attacking turrets. I remember that was a thing back then. It makes her too oppressive under pushed in towers.

This is actually a better solution than that. If Turret's didn't charge headshot, you'd just have to auto minions a few times and attack tower with the headshot ready and it wouldn't consume. Now Cait's only option for holding onto headshot under tower will be to not attack anything at all.

"Headshot" turrets..... riiiight.....

Well at least they have stone heads.?

Chembaron Yamada7 votes

Honestly, I love that change. [sg-jinx]

Caitlyn needs help, she got overnerfed. And her theme is being the sieging marksman, so making her headshots work on turrets is obvious. Let's see how this turns out. :3

I Main Swain8 votes

well so long as we're talking theme you cant headshot a turret. besides, the point isnt that she needed help (honestly as far as fighting champs goes it made her weaker anyways since its every 8th hit now), the point is that we dont need even more stuff for pushing the already weak turrets, especially the already weak bot lane turrets.

[...] you cant headshot a turret [...]

Actually, you can... https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/c/c4/Tower.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/200?cb=20141120045510 This turret is a statue and it does in fact have a head! Checkmate!

More seriously, her gameplay theme is being a sieger and that means that she should be good at taking down turrets (just like Ziggs is the sieging mage and he has a turret execute on W and his passive works on turrets as well).

About her needing help: If you look at all changes, they seem like a net buff for me. I could be wrong, though, we have to see how this turns out. I hope these changes make it through. If her turret taking power is too strong, they can still put a limiter on it, like her headshot is working on turrets, but with decreased damage.

I Main Swain3 votes

imo they should remove zigg's turret execute too, its a pretty sizable execute and on top of that why on earth is it necessary? i mean i wouldnt have a problem if it was a small % but even at rank 1 its 25%, thats a lot. same with tristanas e (honestly much more so with tristanas e). that or they need to finally go through and give turrets a big fat buff.

Chembaron Yamada2 votes

The tower execute is not necessary, but an unique niche. It is just about giving champions strengths to differentiate them from other members of their subclass. And even with the tower execute and extra damage from his passive, Ziggs doesn't seem oppressive right now. Things like this can be balanced.

Caitlyn is just the marksman version of Ziggs, she is supposed to be great at sieging and giving her another tool to enforce this is nice.

I Main Swain2 votes

my point isnt about specific champions though, what im talking about is the fact that right now theres already so much stuff geared towards melting towers between all the abilities they changed to be able to heavily damage towers and rift herald and how horribly weak turrets are right now. until they finally buff turrets they really shouldnt add any more stuff to make taking them down easier.

SpyKayle1 votes

Yes they have heads. No they have nothing vital in the head area therefore the point of the "headshot" is moot. The whole point of a headshot is to kill them because obviously our brains are in that area. The turret is a statue. It has no brain.

Chembaron Yamada1 votes

By that logic, they should change headshot to immediately kill every human champion or every champion with a physiology close to human.

I'm gonna have fun literally oneshotting the enemy adc in bot lane then. :)

SpyKayle1 votes

Thats fair but still I hated seeing cait in all my game. I rejoiced when they nerfed her tbh

Skins Project2 votes

The turret has cracks :3

Consider it shooting a weak point instead >:3

Chembaron Yamada1 votes

The "you can't headshot a turret" argument doesn't hold anyway. I mean, I want to see someone destroying a statue made out of stone just by shooting it with a blowdart. Teemo

Skins Project3 votes

at least it's something real..

Not like this bitch Lux throws LITERAL LIGHT at a statue and breaks it

Sozan51 votes

He can slay a Star Dragon with it, which is the closest thing to a God we have in League. A mere turret is no obstacle for the Ultimate Weapon.

crzymdscntst6 votes

I mean, I wouldn't object to effects like: item 3098 's Tribute. It has charges which gates it in aggressive focus while also giving a little more power to Supports in workable way.

But on a Marksman like Caitlyn... I can only see her using Rapid Firecannon and timing those shots to hit towers from afar. Combo'd with a Tristana/Ziggs and maybe a couple others on the right team, it could be a very dis-engaged pattern of gameplay.

I Main Swain1 votes

exactly my point. whether or not its healthy for the champion itself, its not healthy for us to have even more turret damaging abilities in the game while theyre as weak as they already are. once theyve been buffed i wont have any problem with this sort of stuff but turrets are already a joke

Ya know, in Heroes of the Storm, nearly EVERYTHING effects buildings barring a very few select abilities.

Im olay with this because they nerfed her traps. Now she cant singlehabdedly hold an entire lane hostage with just her traps.

DemainaNyx1 votes

Yeah, she can.

They didn't nerf the number of traps, just the time they are on the ground. And if she's maxing traps, that's still 5 traps for 70 seconds, only 20 less than before hand. And now you take even more headshot damage for clearing them when she maxes it.

Chembaron Yamada1 votes

If she maxes traps first, she absolutely lacks waveclear and therefore she shouldn't be able to push you under your tower. =/

DemainaNyx1 votes

And yet everyone always complained about how she can trap off your entire lane, and when I point out that that means she has one point in Q, they say that doesn't matter.

My point was though that she still can do it.

Chembaron Yamada1 votes

Another point: you said that you will take even more damage from the traps if she maxes them first.

Is that really true? I didn't do the math, but I saw that they are changing her traps to deal damage based on bonus AD, not total AD anymore. And in early laning phase, you don't have much bonus AD anyway.

That change seems to me that it is highly encouraging Caitlyn to max traps second, making them a strong tool in the mid game, but she won't get that much benefit from them early.

DemainaNyx1 votes

The notes say that the base damage is being increased from 10 to 40 at level one. So this will probably offset the total AD damage so that it is relatively the same damage wise at level 1, but with it scaling into the game now, eating a trap later will hurt more.

Most people around level 9 will either just have their component items or a full IE, so that's roughly 40 (BF Sword) to 70 Bonus AD. Get to late game Caitlyn with a standard build of IE, Shiv, RFC, BT, Boots, LW upgrade.

With a BF sword and Dorans, that's 125 total, 57 bonus. With IE and Dorans, that's 155 total, 87 bonus. With full build, that's 299 total, 209 bonus

So right now: BF Dorans: 190 + (0.6 x 125) = 265 IE Dorans: 190 + (0.6 x 155) = 283 Full: 190 + (0.6 x 299) = 369

PBE BF Dorans: 240 + 57 = 297 IE Dorans: 240 + 87 = 327 Full: 240 + 209 = 449

This is all without resistances in mind cause I don't want to deal with that, so we're just comparing numbers. My test in Practice Tool had these numbers for her current kit vs Target Dummies. BF Dorans: 97 Regular head shot, 234 Trap Headshot, 351 Trap Headshot Crit IE Dorans: 140 Regular head shot, 287 Trap Headshot, 488 Trap Headshot Crit Full Build: 326 Regular head shot, 555 Trap Headshot, 974 Trap Headshot Crit (Tested with IE, BT, LDR; No RFC, Shiv, or boots)

So, right now she's hitting people with 100 armor with maxed traps for those numbers. And you can see that with the new changes, that should increase. Not insanely, but it will increase it.

Jbels1 votes

You know they nerfed her base stats to compensate right? And it takes 8 shots to get the passive headshot off now. She's losing a lot for that extra usability on passive

I Main Swain1 votes

thats not my point, honestly i would rather they revert that. i dont want any more stuff than the already too much that we have that makes it super easy to melt towers.

Honestly, I'll take it. I would rather marksmen have clearly defined strengths and weaknesses more than I care about towers being wet paper bags. The changes make her easier to kill once you get on her, something all marksmen should be but haven't been

Acheron161 votes

All they need to do is revert the attacks speed nerfs and Hurricane interaction.

Maybe even keept the trap nerfs and Cait will ok.

Stop adding new things instead of reverting stupid nerfs.

Rockem Sockm1 votes

Nerf her late game some more then. She still has a great early mid and late.

The energizer combo still exist. Ezreal is in the dumpster but Caitlyn will always be relevant
