What disturbs me the most about modern league...
I used to play this game about 6 years ago, back then it was completely different (different account etc) and when I think of the ways that League has changed, it makes me feel sad inside. However I think the thing that disturbs me most about this shift between then and now...
Is that players today just simply don't care anymore...
It really feels like a lot of actual people who cared about the game jumped ship a long time ago. (Obviously not all the players). The game used to have a community that helped to shape it but now they are so content to let Riot release champion monstrosity after monstrosity and they continue to pay for it...
I cannot understand why? There of course, are people that find this version of League fun but the game has moved so far from its DOTA roots now that its hard to even recognise anymore. As long as people can keep worrying about their own selves, their own stats, their own perceived notion of skill... that seems to be all modern players care about.
I don't know what it is about people... a lot of players have seen the continual decline of League over the past five years and yet... they seem content with it? Why is that? Most of us have gotten jobs and moved on with our lives but whenever I get time off work, I come back and just HOPE it will be better and yet... it never is...
The game has descended in madness of power creep and people continue to pay for this stuff? Why exactly?
Or has the sense of community died with the massive rise of toxicity on the general internet?
What happened to us?
Obviously if you enjoy this game... thats cool but I can see from OP.GG that match numbers are falling... people are leaving and Riot is crawling more and more into the arms of china...
and it just makes me feel... well sad... it shows the real ugliness of humanity. I have not paid Riot a penny since this whole obsession with damage, mobility and broken champions took hold... and I fear that I never will again.
